  • Last week, we sponsored “War Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children” on Capitol Hill. The exhibit opened on the day of a tragic Russian missile attack on a children’s hospital in Kyiv and helped kick off the week of #NATOSummit2024. WATCH powerful words from Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, Founders Bess Weatherman & Andrew Duncan, President Meaghan Mobbs, PhD and the visionary leader of the artist team, Khrystyna Khranovska. A huge thank you to Estonian Speaker, Lauri Hussar, U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, U.S. Representative French Hill and all who joined us to recognize the strength and resilience of these young voices. Let’s continue to look toward Ukraine’s future by supporting its fight for freedom and sovereignty. #StandWithUkraine

If you’re on Capitol Hill or in the DC area today, we would love to see you at Rayburn to view the R.T. Weatherman Foundation sponsored exhibit: War Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children. Join us at 4:30 for a reception, remarks from the Ukraine Ambassador to the U.S. and policy makers, as well as some light food and drinks. This is such a timely, must-see exhibit as horrific Russia attacks on #Kyiv targeted a #childrenshospital today and the #NATOSummit2024 begins this week. Don’t look away from these atrocities. They’re impacting the next generation in unspeakable ways - and in spite of the trauma, even the youngest Ukrainians are showing their resilience and commitment to fight for freedom, #democracy and their national soverienty. • In January, our co-founder, Andrew Duncan, spoke at an exhibit inauguration our foundation sponsored for children’s diaries, sharing their experiences through the war. “We intend on helping every single Ukrainian child have what they deserve: peace, prosperity, and the chance for a quiet education.” Also, this month, we supported Americans whose family members were killed in Ukraine, advocating and sharing with lawmakers why they should still believe in the fight for Ukraine’s freedom. Last week, the R.T. Weatherman Foundation led a delegation to Capitol Hill, consisting of families of fallen U.S. veterans and those injured in the line of duty. We spent our time there advocating for continued support for Ukraine. These brave Americans had such courage in telling their stories: speaking with deep emotion about their loved ones' commitment to the Ukrainian cause, their acts of valor, and the grim realities of combat. The injured veterans provided valuable insights into the life-saving effectiveness and excellence of U.S. military support and the urgent needs on the battlefield. It was remarkable to sit in office after office, as they highlighted the necessity of U.S. action and leadership when confronted with clear moral choices against a horrific aggressor. Reflecting on these powerful moments, I am reminded of the words of Nelson Mandela: "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others," a sentiment that many in last week's delegation live out daily, and one I think many Americans still hold on to in our current, turbulent times. U.S. involvement in #ukraine is more than a choice between war and peace at this point; it's about standing up for our core values and supporting those who courageously fight for them. My hope is that we are remembered as a generation that stood firmly for freedom, for democratic values, and had unwavering support for those who bravely defend these principles.

We (R.T. Weatherman Foundation) brought fighters and families of the fallen to DC to tell their stories. And they did - to those who would listen and those who wouldn’t. It took unbelievable courage for them to cut themselves open over and over in the hopes it would make a difference. At West Point we were taught to choose the harder right over the easier wrong. They are the embodiment of this principle. https://lnkd.in/ep-hDYSk

I couldn’t put this more eloquently than my incredibe colleague and friend, Meaghan Mobbs, PhD, just did. I’ll let you read her words about the powerful week we just had at R.T. Weatherman Foundation, speaking to decision makers in DC. #ukraine must have aid now - full stop. As always, honored to be part of this team and couldn’t do any of it without them: David Bramlette Svitlana Rogers Joseph Norbeck. They’re quite simply, the most compassionate, strong, gracious humans. They remind me daily there is still good left in the world; and it’s worth fighting for.

Over the last three days the R.T. Weatherman Foundation led a delegation of families of US vets killed in action in Ukraine and wounded in action US vets on Capitol Hill. The ask - sustain support for Ukraine aid. Or, in other words, don’t let Russia win. The five families shared stories of their loved ones. They told lawmakers why their sons joined the fight in Ukraine and how they willingly gave their lives for a cause they deeply believed in. They spoke of bravery, the horrors these men faced in the trenches, and the barbarity of the enemy. The wounded spoke about how US weapons are par none. Reliable and effective, one vet described in harrowing detail how cluster munitions saved his life. They gave insight into ammunition shortages, critical kit needed for victory, and the spirit of the fighter on the frontlines. In the spirit of Reagan, it is a time for choosing: “Alexander Hamilton said, "A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one." Now let's set the record straight. There's no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there's only one guaranteed way you can have peace - and you can have it in the next second - surrender. Admittedly, there's a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson of history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement… and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight or surrender. If we continue to accommodate, continue to back and retreat, eventually we have to face the final demand, the ultimatum.” I pray history will not “record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening.” https://lnkd.in/ecjsD_cT
