🌍 The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) entered into force in the EU last week. 🔄 The regulation focuses on circularity and more environmentally sustainable product development. Imaging products aren’t yet in scope, but a voluntary agreement proposed by manufacturers was rejected by the EU, meaning regulation is likely to follow. The ESPR contains requirements on product durability, reusability, and recyclability, together with rules on carbon and environmental footprints. It also introduces: 🛂 Digital Product Passports with information on technical performance, materials and their origins, repair activities, recycling capabilities and lifecycle environmental impact. 🔥 Rules about the destruction of unsold consumer products. ♻ Mandatory Green Public Procurement criteria for EU authorities who purchase the regulated products. Last night, Quocirca hosted its first ever networking event for key representatives in the #print industry. The topic of conversation was #sustainability in which guests discussed three central topics consisting of:   🤔the challenges and opportunities facing the industry, 🤝the role of collaboration across the print ecosystem, 👨🏻💻 the importance of education in helping to inform the market as sustainability becomes increasingly important as part of the buying cycle.   A lively discussion took place over a four-course sustainable dinner at the wonderful Restaurant St. Barts in central London. Keeping to the sustainability theme, St. Bart's is London's first restaurant to be awarded a Green Michelin star, in recognition of its sourcing ingredients exclusively within the UK.   The event was oversubscribed with guests animated and erudite in sharing their views with colleagues and peers.
