About us

The Center for Business Communication at the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business collaborates with key stakeholders to provide transformative case competition experiences and workshops for students. A case competition is an academic competition in which students come together to solve a case, or issue, that is presented. Students use teamwork, critical thinking, and organizational skills to deduce a recommendation that they support in a presentation in front of judges or company sponsors. Participate in a case competition and you will: Engage in critical thinking to solve a problem with a team Build a social and professional network Strengthen your resume Apply classroom skills to real problems We offer workshops, training, and tools The Center for Business Communication offers experiences both inside and out of the classroom. Our program portfolio includes competitions, workshops, coaching and digital tools. You can join the case community and weave in and out as your schedule allows. We help students start and move through case experiences.

  • Wednesdays for Winners!! Ethan Murphy, a forward-thinking freshman at Purdue University, is dedicated to building meaningful connections and advancing professionally. Despite facing setbacks, his resilience and determination led him to secure a Business Analyst Internship at Moser Consulting within just a month. Ethan's success extends to case competitions, where he has excelled, earning recognition such as the Dr. Sara Stein Koch Scholarship. Drawing inspiration from family and peers, Ethan values learning from experienced professionals, leveraging their wisdom to fuel his motivation. His emotional intelligence enhances his ability to build genuine relationships, fostering connections that are both meaningful and enduring. Ethan’s teams placed first in the Powershift Case Competition and the Eli Lilly Case Competition.

  • Wednesdays are for Winners!! Diego Legoas is currently pursuing a major in Finance, he is driven by a determination to seize every opportunity that comes his way and to explore what Purdue offers. With an open-minded approach, he anticipates creating new connections and expanding both his financial expertise and overall knowledge. Diego is a member of the John Martinson Honors College and Larsen Leaders Academy. He serves as the Finance Chair for the annual Doster Leadership Conference and is an Emerging Leader Scholar. Diego's academic excellence is evident through his presence on the Dean’s List and Semester Honors in 2023. Diego’s team placed first in the Powershift Case Competition.

  • Wednesdays are for Winners!! Emma Ahern is a freshman pursuing a degree in Marketing at the Daniels School of Business. She consistently seeks avenues to enhance her skills. Emma's passion lies in collaborative work and understanding how to customize her leadership style to motivate and inspire others effectively. On campus, she is involved in many organizations, pushing her limits and creating valuable connections. Emma aspires to expand her professional horizons and learn from peers and mentors as she progresses. She serves on the Larsen Leaders Academy Executive Board and is a member of the Purdue Marketing Association. Emma’s team placed first in the Powershift Case Competition.

On campus, she actively engages as a member of the Larsen Leaders Academy Executive Team, holding the position of Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Additionally, she served as the Director of the Social Committee at the Brock Wilson Center for Women in Business. From Vincennes, IN, he has enjoyed his time at Purdue, where he has developed his professional skills and engaged in collaboration with exceptional peers. Jason is a member of the General Board for the Latino Student Union and actively participates in ALPFA. This upcoming summer, he will be studying abroad in Barcelona.     Wednesdays are for Winners!! Lingesh Veda, a freshman majoring in Integrated Business & Engineering is from Dallas, Texas. As a member of the Larsen Leaders Academy and the Purdue National Society of Sales Engineers, Lingesh has already begun to make his mark on campus. Having won the Endress Hauser x Purdue National Society of Sales Engineers Case Competition, Lingesh recognizes the essential role of case competitions in developing the skills essential for his future professional endeavors. He views these competitions as opportunities to simulate the challenges and scenarios he will encounter in his future career. Through participation, Lingesh gains insight into the realities of a typical workday, providing a glimpse into what his professional life may entail five years down the road.   • As we reach the end of another semester, we're filled with gratitude for our exceptional student team! Their hard work has been essential in the continued growth and improvement of our center.     Wednesdays are for Winners!! Ryan Mooney, a freshman from Bloomington, Indiana, is majoring in Integrated Business & Engineering at Purdue University. Alongside his studies, Ryan is an active member of the Purdue National Society of Sales Engineers. In addition to his major, Ryan aspires to minor in both Nuclear Engineering and Business Economics, demonstrating his multidisciplinary approach to learning. Participating in the Endress Hauser X Purdue National Society of Sales Engineers Case Competition marked a significant milestone for Ryan. Through this experience, he gained valuable insights into teamwork and problem-solving in real-world scenarios. This competition has been instrumental in shaping Ryan's perspective on business challenges, showing the importance of collaboration in achieving success. The dedication and hard work put forth over the past three months before the competition not only broadened Ryan's knowledge but also facilitated the establishment of meaningful connections within his academic and professional networks. Winning first place in the competition was unexpected for Ryan and his team. “The past three months of hard work have taught me so much and helped me build so many new connections as well. Being honored with winning first place was an incredible surprise, but I think it is just a testament to how hard our team worked and how important it is to have a diverse team such as ours where each person can let their own talents shine.”
