🌟 Awareness and trust in #clinicalresearch remains low even though 2,000,000 patients finish their part every year? Why?! Is participating in #clinicaltrials a privilege? 🤔 A study in JAMA Oncology found that 76% of cancer trial participants were white, with only 18% Black, 3% Asian, and 6% Hispanic. The lack of diversity means that new treatments often benefit those with the easiest access - typically those with the time, connections, and finances to participate. This leads to a cycle where clinical results may not be generalizable or misapplied to underrepresented populations, perpetuating health disparities in research. ❌ To access more diverse patients, many Sponsors are seeking less experienced and research-naive sites to help, but with this lack of experience comes a risk of errors in conduct and the additional resources needed to address them. 🚫 🌍 How can Sponsors prevent quality issues at naive sites and support more inclusive trials?
