Join us in welcoming two new projects to the Wren family 🌱 🍂 Our underground biomass storage project with Graphyte removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by turning unwanted biomass such as sawmill residues and rice hulls into carbon blocks, then storing these blocks in a designated site to prevent decomposition and ensure there is no release of greenhouse gas emissions. 🌿 Our forest resilience against wildfires project with Blue Forest restores and protects forests, watersheds, ecosystems, and communities in the Western United States by catalyzing funds and partners needed to accelerate ecological restoration projects. This helps to mitigate the risk of catastrophic wildfires and create a more resilient future. Which other projects would you like to see added to our climate portfolios? #Biomass #CDR #CarbonRemoval #Nature #WildfirePrevention

Do you buy stuff on Amazon? Although the company is making efforts to become more sustainable, the bigger issue is what and how much we're buying. Many of us purchase more than we need, and each item has a carbon footprint associated with materials, production, transport, and disposal. This behavior is accelerating climate change, but together we can modify our habits to create positive outcomes. Visit the link in the comments to learn more about our Tech-enabled rainforest protection project and donate to the fundraiser. * * * * * #protecttheenvironment #natureconservation #loveourplanet #stopdeforestation #sustainability #amazonprimeday #consumerism #TakeAction #EarthDayEveryDay #InvestInOurplanet #climateemergency #WhatWillYouDo

Ready for some good climate news? :) 🦋 The European Union approves a first-of-its-kind Nature Restoration Law to help bring back biodiversity, aiming to restore at least 20% of the EU’s land and sea areas by 2030 and all degraded ecosystems by 2050. 💸 The International Energy Agency reports that global investment in clean energy will overtake fossil fuel spending in 2024. Clean energy investments are estimated to hit $2T in 2024, twice the amount going into fossil fuels. ✌️ Youth activists win an unprecedented climate settlement in Hawaii, with the state's Department of Transportation given a deadline to fully decarbonize and achieve zero emissions by 2045. ⚡️ Only 23% of Malawi’s population has access to electricity. Now, thanks to funding from the World Bank and other impact investors, solar powered electricity is becoming affordable for even low-income households in the area. 🇲🇽 Mexico elects former climate scientist Claudia Sheinbaum as its first female president. As the country faces a handful of issues only worsened by climate change, voters make their priorities clear. 🇻🇦 Pope Francis ordered the construction of a solar farm to cover the energy needs of the smallest country in the world: the Vatican City State. The solar farm is to be managed by the Vatican's central bank and built in Santa Maria Galeri. 🇨🇭 Switzerland approved a law to boost renewable energy, notably "an important milestone for strengthening security of supply" in the country, especially in winter. Official results showed that just under 69% of Swiss voters backed the law. 👷 New research shows that adding nitrogen to concrete could significantly reduce greenhouse gases. By 2050, it could reduce NOx by a total of 131-384 Mt—the equivalent of 75–260 years lost to premature death and reduced quality of life.

4 days left to donate to Wren's CDR fundraiser for Charm Industrial. Every donation is tax-deductible and *matched* dollar-for-dollar: https://lnkd.in/dtjUc7j8 This is a rare opportunity for individuals to donate to Charm Industrial, a long-time partner of Wren and one of the world's premiere carbon removal companies. Charm Industrial uses best-in-class methods to remove carbon from the atmosphere. They collect biomass residues and converts them into a stable, carbon-rich liquid called bio-oil. This bio-oil is injected into EPA-regulated wells deep underground where it sinks and solidifies in place for permanent storage. Recently, Charm Industrial was recognized by the DOE and XPrize for their trailblazing working in carbon removal.

Another 3,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide removed! This week Wren retired 3,000 carbon credits from our partners at Worldview International Foundation and 500 carbon credits from our partners at Pacific Biochar - all thanks to the community of individuals who support Wren's work. I love both of these projects because they are doing more than removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, they are also providing exceptional co-benefits to communities and ecosystems. How? 🌱 Growing mangrove forests improves biodiversity and helps build climate resilience. Their natural root systems can protect coastal communities from storm surges, reducing wave height by up to 66%, preventing erosion, and reducing flood risks. These ecosystem services are critical to support as the globe experiences increases in extreme weather events. 🌾 Biochar application improves soil health, increases crop yields, and helps conserve water and nutrients. These benefits are critical to mitigating and reversing land degradation, a key concern as global demand for food crops increases. Big thank you to our friends at Worldview International Foundation and Pacific Biochar for carrying out this work on the ground! #CDR #NatureBasedSolutions #ClimateAction

Isometric today announced partnerships with 12 of the most important platforms in carbon removal. Patch, Watershed, Supercritical, Klimate.co, Carbonx Climate, Milkywire, Carbonplace, Wren, Rubicon Carbon, Cloverly and CEEZER have all partnered with Isometric to provide their end customers access to Isometric’s high quality carbon credits. Terraset is also providing a way for people to fund carbon removal through tax-deductible donations. These partners are already helping thousands of companies take action to reduce their carbon footprints and decarbonize. It’s critically important that those companies now begin to incorporate high quality carbon removal credits into their sustainability plans. By partnering with Isometric, these platforms can now offer buyers of all sizes the ability to secure credits certified against Isometric's scientifically rigorous protocols. In addition to the 12 platforms mentioned, other organizations are also leveraging key data from the Isometric Registry. Frontier, AlliedOffsets and CDR.fyi are all improving their offerings by integrating Isometric’s data. To support these partnerships, Isometric has launched an Application Programming Interface (API) for the distribution and management of its high quality carbon credits. Isometric’s Registry and MRV APIs allow users to seamlessly manage, transfer and retire credits in real-time. Broadening access to high-quality credits through integrations like these can expand the type and number of buyers in the market, which is critical to scaling the CDR industry.

Last week, the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) officially recognized seven carbon crediting methodologies with their high-integrity Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label. This is a significant step in setting the standard for credit quality in the voluntary carbon market. ❄ I'm glad to see ACR at Winrock International's methodology for the Destruction of ODS from International Sources version 1.0 is among those approved. At Wren, we've been proud supporters of projects developed by Tradewater using this methodology since 2022. While CCP labels are a great start for indicating quality, there’s still nuance between projects using the same methodology. At #NACW2024 I heard someone use a great analogy: two people can bake a cake with the same recipe, but how the cake tastes, really depends on the baker. The same applies to carbon projects - tools like the BeZero Carbon platform have been essential in helping me to understand how projects with the same "recipe" can "taste" totally different. Looking forward to continuing our journey toward high-integrity carbon credits! 🚀🌱 #CarbonCredits #Sustainability #ClimateAction #ICVCM
