The #Vikings, Delta Air Lines and Project Success recently teamed up to send 11 local high school students to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Project Success recently had the opportunity to host Luis Miranda for the launch of his new book, Relentless: My Story of the Latino Spirit that is Transforming America. Luis inspired all of us with his passion and work to make this world a better place. One of the highlights of my 30 years at Project Success was working with Luis, The Public Theater, and Broadway Across America to bring 5,000 students to see 𝘏𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘵𝘰𝘯 on its first tour to Minneapolis. This experience fostered a wonderful partnership and friendship with Luis that I am so grateful for. He has inspired me since our very first meeting, and I’m excited for more people to be inspired by the stories he shares in his new book! 

In June, a cohort of Project Success students participated in an innovative and interactive experience that combined public health education with hands-on drone training at our headquarters and at the University of Minnesota. One of our students shared this about the experience: "I learned how much people who are actually working within the public health space value their work. It was very interesting to hear everybody share about their experiences in public health work and hear about how drones have a very big, but new, hand in that." This week, 13 Project Success students from Wellstone High School completed a Solar Energy Course through Minneapolis Climate Action’s Green Workforce Training program, offered at the Renewable Energy Partners Inc training facility. All students are English Learners who are gaining the certification needed to design, sell, install, or maintain solar systems. As part of their training, they have taken a field trip and conducted lab work, and will take their certification test needed for employment this week. Project Success is making sure they have the support needed to complete their training and coursework, including food, transportation, and language translation. This project was funded by the Catalyze Challenge and the Multilingual Office at Minneapolis Public Schools and supported by Wellstone High School Administration. #ProjectSuccess #PS30 #careerconnectedlearning #minneapolis #careerexploration #education #catalyzechallenge

Wow, what a year it has been for Project Success! This school year we witnessed our middle and high school students Dream, Ignite, and Grow through our Workshops, Arts, Expeditions, and Institute programs. Students tried new things, built community with their peers, and learned more about themselves as they dreamed and planned for their futures. This week we came together as a staff and board team to celebrate all the of the work done with our students and families this school year! 🎉 We shared stories and laughs, and toasted to 30 years of Project Success. In May, students representing each of the Minneapolis Public Schools high schools traveled to Washington DC with Project Success to tour Howard University, visit Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, and sightsee on the National Mall.
