We're on a mission to break down systemic, healthcare, and financial barriers to eating disorder treatment.
About us
Project HEAL is the only major nonprofit in the U.S. focused on equitable treatment access for eating disorders. Our mission is to breakdown systemic healthcare, and financial barriers to eating disorder treatment for the people that the current system is failing. We offer free treatment placements, insurance navigation support, and cash assistance to people who need care in order to heal, but are being unfairly denied. We're also leading research into treatment inequities, and actively engaged in education and advocacy for eating disorder sufferers, particularly focusing on those who are too often excluded from the conversation.

Feeling constant distress around your body and food is common in BIPOC communities. But receiving support, a diagnosis, and treatment is rare. Today, I'm honored to speak at the BIPOC Eating Disorders Conference (hosted by Dr. Whitney Trotter and Angela Goens) where we'll explore Project HEAL's efforts to address this gap, and transform access to mental healthcare. Join us for "The Equity Imperative: Creating Access to Care" session today at 12:15 PM CT. #EquityInHealthcare #MentalHealth #BIPOCMentalHealth #SocialInnovation #InclusionMatters Ada Williams Prince Rozella (Rozie) Kennedy Erikka D. Journaling can be a great thing for dealing with negative body image. The summer is a time when many people experience a heightened sense of focus on their bodies. Journaling can help reflect and identify those thoughts, where they’re coming from, and how to process them. It can also help identify whether the actions you are engaging in align with your values. So, here are 3 journal prompts to get you started: Imagine you were completely comfortable in your body. What activities would you engage in this summer, and how would doing those make you feel? How does clothing affect your body image? Reflect on two outfits--one that you feel very confident in and one that you don’t. What affects your confidence? Reflect on the media/images you consume in a day or week. How do these make you feel? Do they encourage or discourage you from acting based on your values?

When eating disorder thoughts occupy our brain, we have less space in our minds for things that truly matter, such as our family, friends, school, work, and other activities and meaningful interests. But after an eating disorder? That’s a whole different story. Read Eve Yang’s blog at the link in bio or https://lnkd.in/genT6-CT

People seem to always forget. At Club Majority, we don't. We work to ensure that anyone from an underrepresented demographic, within eating disorders treatment, are able to both access and receive the right care. #eatingdisorders #clubmajority

In our diet-obsessed culture, you probably hear blame and judgment associated with binge eating all the time. But in reality, binge eating disorder is a complex brain disorder with neurological, biological, genetic, and environmental causes. Just like any other physical or mental health condition, it’s not an issue that can be resolved with self-control, ‘willpower’, or sheer force. Everyone with BED deserves comprehensive, compassionate care. 💙 Read more about BED at https://buff.ly/3XS7lqb
