Due to the meteoric rise of AI, Google is emitting more, not less, than what it needs to meet its ambitious sustainability goals. And it’s not the only company struggling to meet the growing demands of AI in a sustainable way. “Using lots of resources for AI only makes sense if what we do with it improves human lives, equitably” - Amanda D. The world's leading resource for climate solutions.
About us
Project Drawdown is the world’s leading resource for climate solutions. Our mission is to help the world stop climate change—as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible. To do this, we pursue three key strategies: Advance Effective, Science-based Climate Solutions and Strategies. We do the science no one else does to cut through the noise and find effective “whole system” solutions and strategies for stopping climate change. Foster Bold, New Climate Leadership. We inform, inspire, and empower business leaders, investors, and philanthropists to take bold, new positions, act more strategically, and rapidly bring climate solutions to scale. Promote New Narratives and New Voices. We work to shift the conversation about climate change from “doom and gloom” to “possibility and opportunity.” And we elevate new, underrepresented climate heroes through storytelling and “passing the mic.” A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Project Drawdown is funded by individual and institutional donations.

I will never get tired of saying this: You don't need to have "sustainability" in your job title in order to drive change through your work. 🌍 Are you in HR? Help rethink how your organization runs employee benefits or recruitment, or reshape your workplace culture to a more sustainable one. Are you in PR or marketing? By engaging customers, rethinking production, creating climate-focused campaigns, and helping support climate policy advocacy you can help ensure the business is promoting climate solutions. Are you a product designer? Then maybe you can incorporate climate solutions into the design process – from sustainable prototyping and low-carbon materials to incorporating actionable climate information for consumers. Even people in sales or other client-facing positions (I'm looking at you, consultants!) can make a difference 👇 Are you sitting there and thinking: "Yeah that's all good, but there's nothing I can do at my job" ? Leave a comment and I'll prove you wrong 😉 #sustainability #foodforthought #climateaction [source: Project Drawdown]

Today is #showyourstripes day. "These warming stripes are a powerful visual representation of how temperatures have increased around the world since the Industrial Revolution. Created by climate scientist Professor Ed Hawkins at the @UniofReading, each stripe represents one year, with colors transitioning from cool blues to warm reds to represent the increases in temperature seen throughout the past 150 years or more." Climate policy update! Crucial international climate negotiations recently wrapped up in Bonn, Germany. These annual talks laid the groundwork for issues to be discussed at COP29 in Azerbaijan. The sessions focus on the scientific and technical elements of climate negotiations and the implementation of climate agreements. This year was the 60th meeting of the Subsidiary Bodies, referred to as SB60, and with each passing year, the stakes are being raised as emissions climb and commitments pile up.
