Do you work in a home office? Or are you back to working at your company building? I've always worked from a home office. Before we added a separate room onto our house specifically as my workspace, I worked in the corner of my living room using a couple of half bookshelves and a half wall as dividers between me and the central part of the family room. I live in an 1860's farmhouse... there are half walls and weird spaces everywhere...remind me to tell you about my hidden pantry someday! Anyway, around the same time we bought this house, I heard about 𝗙𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝘂𝗶, the placement and spatial arrangement of things in our home that is supposed to bring in favorable energy and calm. Back when we bought this crazy house, we needed all of the favorable energy and calm we could get. I ended up following some of the principles and started to hate my house less. Here are the five basic principles of Feng Shui: 1) 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 -light and dark, closed spaces and open spaces, etc. 2) 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 are necessary for energy to flow. Be mindful of where you place your furniture, and avoid blocking doorways or hallways. 3) 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 face a door, but not right in front of it, put your desk slightly diagonal from the door or living room so you have full visibility 4) 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Make sure you have earth, metal, water, fire, and wood in your office and home. Each means something: Wood means expanding and growing (expand your career), Earth is more grounding, etc. 5) 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗽 (this is what I used in my house). This shows a floor plan of where certain areas in your home indicate wealth, health, knowledge, children, etc. When I started redoing my office last month, I reached out to 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗼, Certified Founder of Feng Shui Manhattan, Inc., Feng Shui Long Island, Inc. and daughter of the renowned Certified Feng Shui Master Carole Provenzale.
