During their trip to the Kingdom of Bhutan earlier this week, our co-founders, David and Daniil Liberman, were honored to meet with his majesty, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The Liberman brothers and King Jigme Khesar had the opportunity to discuss several projects proposed by Libermans Co. earlier this year, centered around Bhutan's promising Gelephu Mindfulness City, an autonomous city designed to open Bhutan to the world and bring about significant positive changes. Libermans Co. hopes to aid the incredible journey and development of Mindfulness City (GMC) by cooperating on several prospects. During the meeting, the parties discussed a conference to be hosted in Bhutan starting early next year to discuss technology, investment, and innovation. Additionally, our co-founders addressed the proposal to help Bhutan build communities and investment opportunities abroad as well. Under the leadership of King Jigme Khesar, Bhutan transitioned from an absolute monarchy into a parliamentary democracy in 2008. Today, it is ranked as the 10th most democratic country in Asia and continues to undergo one of the most significant democratic transformations in modern history. The country was the first to announce carbon neutrality for all times to come and one of the few to reach carbon negativity. The entirety of Bhutan is powered by clean hydroelectric power, and the export of electricity generated through this way to India is one of Bhutan's most profitable industries. In 2017, the Kingdom made a strategic investment in building high-performance computing facilities and leveraging access to excess green energy to create one of the world's most significant Bitcoin holdings. It has become the 4th-largest state holder of Bitcoin cryptocurrency after the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. These investments position the Kingdom as a strategic partner as the world enters the age of AI and the accompanying demand for computing power. The latest of King Jigme Khesar's reforms to modernize the Kingdom and connect it to the global economy is the construction of a visionary Mindfulness City, a special administrative region on the border with India meant to encourage appropriate partnerships and foreign investment into the Kingdom. The Kingdom has already begun transforming the small local airfield into Bhutan's second-ever international airport, and plans to connect the city to the Indian railway network have been discussed as part of a larger access strategy and vision. Libermans Co. has been an eager partner and looks forward to cooperating with the GMC to help make Mindfulness City a project that will continue to redefine the notion of democracy and decentralization, Urban development, and sustainable economy.
