Have you heard about the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development granting $2 million to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and our Prince George’s County Department of Social Services? The grant funding was announced at the ribbon-cutting of the new Bruce Empowerment Zone center in Hyattsville, MD through the Sasha Bruce Youthwork organization. This funding is set to support Maryland’s Youth Homelessness System Improvement. Our DCAO of Health, Human Services & Education, Dr. Areola shares, “We look forward to our continued partnership with state officials as we use these new funds to improve our youth homelessness response system”. This new location will help Sasha Bruce Youthwork continue to combat youth homelessness in Prince George’s County. As a part of their B-E-Z Drop-in Program, this center will offer youth aged 14-24, basic necessities of food, toiletries, cash, technology, case management and more.
