📣📢 Medica announces Adam Hjerpe as our Chief Operating Officer. ◻ In this role, Adam will lead our operational initiatives in alignment with the overall vision, strategy, and goals. This includes membership and enrollment, claims, customer service, configuration, and the project management functions. ◻ During his 10 years with General Electric and 20 years with UnitedHealth Group, Adam led complex business transformation and implementation in progressive leadership roles as a member of the executive leadership team. ◻ Adam earned his bachelor's degree in applied business from the University of Minnesota and holds a Master Black Belt certification. ◻ He serves as the board chair for Special Olympics 2026 USA Games coming to Minnesota. “Adam brings more than 30 years of experience in health care and financial services. 📣 📣 Announcement 📣 📣 Medica is happy to share Alicia Bartsh Reuter joins the organization as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer. ◼ In this role, Alicia will provide strategic direction and oversight for legal, compliance, privacy, regulatory affairs, public policy, risk management, community engagement, and the Medica Foundation. "We are fortunate to have a Chief Legal Officer of Alicia’s caliber at Medica to help guide us through the health care industry’s legal, compliance, and policy environment, which continues to evolve rapidly,” said Lisa Erickson, Medica President and CEO. ◼ Alicia brings more than 25 years of experience in the legal and healthcare industry, including more than 15 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota in progressive roles, most recently as Vice President, Legal, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. ◼ She began her career with Piper Sandler in investment banking and equity research. ◼ She also spent time with Split Rock Partners, SuperValu, and law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis PA.  ◼ Alicia holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics, from Macalester College, and she earned her Juris Doctor with honors from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. ◼ She serves on the board of Academy of Holy Angels.

We are still 🎉 🎉 🙌 from our company-wide townhall event last week in Madison! Hundreds of employees gathered together to listen to our leaders, enjoyed home-made chili during our chili cook-off, launched our Craft Connection project which involves making various crafts and letters for seniors in member-run assisted living facilities to combat social isolation, and successfully completed a March of Dimes walk right on our Madison campus which raised money and awareness for healthy babies and maternal outcomes. April is National Volunteer Month and we sure tried to make a difference in the communities we serve across our 3 hubs in MN, WI and NE! This week teams from our organization volunteered at various food banks and packed up all sorts of meals for folks: 🥔 🍎 frozen 🍕, 🍘 (oyster crackers) and more! It was a great way to volunteer as part of our "Acts of Impact" program and do some team-bonding as well! Medica is dedicated to helping individuals and families have better access to nutritional food which then leads to better health outcomes! As we recognize Black Maternal Health week here at Medica we want to share a personal story from our David S. Webster M.D., MBA as he details his twin sons' birth experience. Maternal health equity is deeply personal to Dr. Webster as his wife, who is also a physician, had a very traumatic birth with their sons--fortunately she lived to tell it and they are raising healthy teens now! A group of our Madison employees volunteered their time on Friday at Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin--food security for our community members is a huge priority for us at Dean Health Plan, Inc. 🌽 🍎 🥔 5,400 meals were provided to the community with the hard work of our 24 volunteers!
