A huge milestone for clean energy in Massachusetts! The Kenzi at Bartlett Station is the first all-electric mid-rise in the state. Going 100% electric is often difficult for buildings over four stories because the local fire and inspection departments require emergency battery backup power systems for safety measures if the power goes out. However, The Kenzi's owner and developer, Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), worked with architectural firm DREAM Collaborative, LLC and solar energy provider and designer ReVision Energy to install and permit a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This system represents the first time an all-electric system was approved to replace a fossil fuel generator in a multifamily building in the state– marking a pivotal advancement and case study for clean energy as the state aims to reach net zero emissions by 2050. #SolarEnergy #AffordableHousing #AllElectric #RenewableEnergy

Love getting to connect and play with our peers in affordable housing! Great game!! Can't wait for August with our friends WinnCompanies
WinnCompanies played against the Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) in a friendly softball game yesterday at the Teddy Ebersol Field along the Charles River in Boston! Our Boston team members were able to connect with our peers in affordable housing and engage in some friendly competition with a recreational slow pitch softball game. We look forward to playing a second game with POAH in August!

Retrofitting existing buildings to make them more energy efficient provides both sustainability benefits and an opportunity for affordable housing. Thank you, Ivy Scott (The Boston Globe, Staff) for highlighting the work being done at POAH's Fairweather Salem. "Through better insulation, solar power, and the electrification of the HVAC and hot water systems, the Salem renovation promises to reduce energy consumption by 88 percent" https://lnkd.in/eKtWrrtb
