"Residents of multi-family housing typically can't influence the installation of charging infrastructure in the buildings where they live, creating a real barrier for EV adoption that residents of single family homes don't typically encounter. Today, June 1, marks 6 years since Ava first launched service to commercial customers! And what a wonderful 6 years it's been 🤗⚡ (Pictured: as of 2024, Ava has 80 full-time staff!)

Building accessible, reliable and affordable fast EV charging at scale is one the great opportunities (and challenges) of this phase of the energy transition - last decade it was building the foundation through scaling wind and solar power - and now it is electrifying the economy to deliver better performance, lower costs and better/brighter future. At Ava Community Energy we recognized that building a network of fast chargers across our community - mostly in areas close to multi-family housing where overnight charging is often not accessible - was one of the biggest actions we could take to drive the energy transition locally. We have been working with two great partners - EV Realty and Calibrant Energy - to bring this vision to reality. We are working together to build our first 11 fast charging depots including our first project in West Oakland that we expect to start operating this fall. https://lnkd.in/gEtVf6bz

Ava joined the California Heat Pump Partnership #CAHPP to help the state hit 6 million heat pumps by 2030! We’re joining together with California Energy Commission California Public Utilities Commission California Air Resources Board & market actors to lead the charge in CA. "The CAHPP will develop a blueprint outlining how to address technical, market, and policy barriers for achieving the state’s heat pump targets. The partnership will also deploy a statewide consumer marketing campaign through The Switch Is On, an initiative launched by the Building Decarbonization Coalition, to educate, inspire, and make switching to electric appliances easier for communities, contractors, and all those who live and work in buildings."
