United Insulated Structures - along with representatives from United States Cold Storage, Gorton’s Seafood, the Mayor of Lebanon, IN, and the state Economic Development Department - proudly participated in a column-raising ceremony for a 117,200 sf expansion for Gorton's Seafood. This addition will feature a state-of-the-art fish production facility with five production lines, modern office spaces, a loading dock, and a 60-foot clear VNA freezer with automation at both ends to support and store production. By centralizing Gorton’s operations, this project will significantly reduce transportation costs, enhance overall efficiency, and expand the company’s freezer capacity. During preconstruction, our VDC team utilized cutting-edge technology to create a virtual reality model of the facility to immerse the client into their future space, facilitating enhanced collaboration and accelerating the decision-making process during design reviews. Summer Outings are in full swing! This past Friday, Pickle Haus hosted 40 participants for a day of friendly competition and lots of fun. Our event kicked off with some instructional and open play sessions to get everyone warmed up for the main event - a tournament with blind match teams that brought out the absolute best in everyone! A huge congratulations to our champions, Brian Landwehr and Ryan Mack who triumphed in the final match against Frankie Bongiovanni and our intern, Tommy Brownfield. We are thrilled to announce the completion of The Foundry at 1475 N Kingsbury - the fourth and final component of The Shops at Big Deahl planned development. Standing 27-stories, The Foundry is the tallest structure of the three-building development and includes 327-unit market rate apartments, ground-level retail and four levels of parking. Located in the Near North Side of Chicago, it also includes The Seng (for-sale affordable condos), Common Lincoln Park (co-living apartments), and Seng Park (a new public park). The success of this project was a collaborative effort between our project team, White Oak Realty Partners, FitzGerald Associates, and our self-perform concrete and carpentry groups. Dave Burk

Project update: our #VIPGroup has been working on a stabilization project at Northwestern University's Central Utility Plant (CUP). After five months of planning and multiple engineering analyses, our team used a large crane to hoist a decommissioned boiler from the 1960's to be replaced with new equipment to service the Evanston campus. In addition to boiler replacement, the project includes substantial upgrades to critical equipment to enhance boiler feedwater processing and improve condensate return treatment. Big picture, this CUP stabilization project will boost the efficiency and reliability of the plant, as well as extend the lifespan of its equipment. Northwestern University

Our #PowerVIPGroup recently completed a 30,000 sf emergency department expansion at Resurrection Medical Center. This project was designed to maximize impact and reduce treatment wait-time by featuring state-of-the-art imaging equipment, numerous exam rooms, a dedicated decontamination area, and an ambulance garage to minimize patient transfer time from vehicle to room. To ensure the new layout was optimally functional, our VDC team created a virtual environment where a Oculus VR headset was utilized for nursing and physician staff to walk their new space and offer feedback on design and logistics. This approach was highly successful, saving our team time and, most importantly, ensuring the space meets the staff's needs. One of our favorite days of the year! Our 2024 Annual Meeting was an opportunity to celebrate the past year's achievements, share updates on ongoing initiatives, and discuss the state of our business. Earlier this month, over 200 participants from Power and our co-sponsor Power Wellness joined together for the 31st Annual Cancer Survivors Celebration Walk & 5k, held at Grant Park on National Cancer Survivors Day. With over 3,600 participants, this event brings together people who have faced or are facing cancer and provides the opportunity to connect as a community and celebrate milestones with all of those who support them every step of the way. A record breaking $550,000 was raised to help advance groundbreaking cancer research and treatment at Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Medicine!

We are thrilled to welcome 19 college and 3 high school interns this year! We know our interns learn fastest where the action is…in the field. Alongside dedicated mentors, these students will support a variety of activities like document control, procurement, site logistics and much more, on complex Power projects. With an all access preview to the full-time employee experience, our interns will participate in company social events blended with a robust mix of training classes to fuel their technical skills.
