Partnering with families experiencing homelessness to educate their children and create pathways to success

About us

Positive Tomorrows is Oklahoma’s only tuition-free private school specifically for children and families experiencing homelessness. More than 100 students in Early Head Start through 7th Grade attend Positive Tomorrows each year, where they receive education while their families are supported in their path to create a better life. We help by meeting basic needs of our children and removing barriers to learning, and by supporting families so they can increase their income, employment, and housing. In reality, we provide something much greater than the sum of our programs – we give hope today, along with the promise for a better tomorrow.

In our hallway, an art project called "A Message to Future Stars" displays advice from Positive Tomorrows alumni to this year’s students. When asked to share something they wanted a new student to know about Positive Tomorrows, one former student wrote a message that speaks volumes: "Nobody will make fun of you for needing help." Right now, YOUR help will go even further because every dollar you give will be matched, thanks to a generous $25,000 donation from MidFirst Bank. But there are just four days left to meet our goal. Time is running out – and we haven't yet met our match. Please don’t wait. Give today and make sure your donation goes twice as far in impacting the life of a child who needs a little extra help. https://lnkd.in/gYQXqJqm

Piper arrived at Positive Tomorrows bursting with excitement for the first day of school. She was thrilled to start first grade, but even more excited to share a school with her little sister, Ocean, who is enrolled in our infant and toddler room. That afternoon, as she played with her new friends, Piper told her teacher, “I didn’t know school could be so fun! This place is really cool.” Moments like this are only possible because of you. Last year, Positive Tomorrows had to turn away 125 families—23 of them because our Early Head Start classroom was full. To meet the urgent need in our community, we’re opening a second classroom for children from birth to age three later this year. This expansion is a lifeline for families overcoming homelessness. When you give today to our back-to-school campaign your donation will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000, thanks to the generosity of our friends at MidFirst Bank. Will you give today to help kids experience the magic of the first day of school? https://lnkd.in/guF36ntz

The teachers have returned and our team capped off a great professional development and United Way of Central Oklahoma campaign week with a visit from the Sasquatch Shaved Ice mobile unit. We're eagerly counting down to our first day of school on Wednesday!

Please help us congratulate our Lead Classroom Assistant, Gill Dudley (lovingly referred to by our kiddos as "Coach G."). After lots of hard work and dedication, she passed her exam and obtained her CDL to drive our school buses. Transportation is a crucial piece of our work to remove barriers to education, and we're so grateful for her commitment to our students!

One of the goals of our camps and extracurricular programs is to provide access to first experiences and activities our kiddos may not have the luxury of doing as often as their peers. Our campers went to the movies last week, many of them for the very first time. One Pre-K friend was particularly thrilled about his "robot chair" and was pumped that it even had a cup holder! On the way out, another student told their teacher that the day was "10 out of 10, would definitely recommend!"
