The love for PDX is in large part due to the people who work here. Last week, we celebrated them with food, fun, and prizes. It was a blast! 🥳 To our amazing PDX People—thank you for everything you do to make PDX such a great place.

About us
With our three airports, four marine terminals, five business parks, and hundreds of employees, we’re an economic engine for transforming our region into a place where everyone is welcome, empowered, and connected to the opportunity to find a good job or grow their business. Our job is to pull down barriers and connect people and local businesses who have been left out of the region’s economic growth – including people of color, low-income workers, and people with disabilities – to powerful opportunities. Using our resources, expertise, and influence, we create jobs, help locally owned businesses grow, and help attract more quality employers to the state. The power behind the Port? Our people. Join the team and help drive meaningful change for everyone who lives and works here.

What's your least favorite part of air travel? Bad food? Cold environments? Time stress? One of mine, and this will shock exactly zero people who know me: poorly used video screen systems. So when I had the opportunity to work as the Technical Director on the PDX Media Installation, I was instantly 🤓 😈 The pair of 123' x 23' screens are one small part of the incredible ZGF Architects design for the Port of Portland, but they are very present for the people who use this space. Travelers who experience this video display are under pressure to get somewhere else, not stop and digest what is on the screens. The challenge before us: how does the media enhance traveler experience and not demand their attention? I love the Port chose to use this space entirely for art. Working with Half Sister Studio & dotdotdash - we met this challenge not only with beautiful creative, but with real-time content generation and dynamic show control that responds to the room. With the team at Smart Monkeys Inc. we built at a custom show controller that builds each day's cue list based on sunrise/sunset and updates cue length based on TSA Wait time. The dotdotdash team built a powerhouse of a media application that generates scenes of Oregon that responds to time of day and weather. Added to that is a gallery of curated artist content interspersed in our run of show. The result is a content program where no two days will ever be alike in that space. I'm very excited this project is now live. I think you'll find PDX has redefined the airport experience with a warm space, great food, and an environment that meets travel stress with calm and care.

We’re doing a little happy dance over here! PDX was just nominated for USA TODAY’s 10 Best in the categories of “Best Airport for Dining” and “Best Airport for Shopping”. We’ve been working hard to make PDX feel like your favorite neighborhood, complete with the local spots you know and love. With nearly half of our shops and restaurants being women- and BIPOC-owned, we’re extra proud of what we’ve built together. We’d be so grateful if you voted for us. You can vote once per day until Monday, September 23rd. (A link is in the comments). And a huge thanks to our shopping and dining partners for being part of PDX.
