Do animals have emotions? This video answers the question perfectly. Look at the joy Stella has. Whenever I throw the stick, I experience the same with my wild buddy, Maddy. She can play this game for hours. But dogs are not the only animals with proven emotions: 🐘 Elephants grief. They have been observed mourning their dead by visiting the bones of deceased herd members for years. 🐀 Rats show empathy. In scientific studies, rats have demonstrated kindness by freeing trapped cage mates even when there was no reward for doing so. 🐋 Whales show altruism. Humpback whales have been observed protecting other animals from orca attacks. 🐴 Horses read emotions. They are able to read and respond to emotional states in both horses and humans. 🐦⬛ Ravens console. They have been seen consoling their mates by preening them after a conflict. Now, this is not a call to look into animals, to find us humans in them. Even the concept of emotions is entirely produced by us. This is rather a reminder for all of us that animals are far more complex than we give them credit. And we are still only scratching the surface. 💡 Why does this matter?  The sooner we understand their complexities, the higher the chances we rethink how we treat animals. 💪 3 actions you can take to live that perspective # 1 Observe. Next time you encounter an animal, just observe it for a few minutes. You might be surprised by what you see. # 2 Shift perspectives. Companies like Faith for Nature put nature on their board to give nature. It might be a great exercise to get some wild perspectives in your next meeting. # 3 Change roles. Next time your actions affect an animal, pause for a sec & think about how you would feel if the roles were reversed. Animals are not just fluffy or cute. They are also incredibly complex.
