We’re excited to see this project move forward and proud to have led the EIR on behalf of the City.
The City of Ontario has announced the name of the largest multi-use sports complex on the West Coast: "Ontario Sports Empire." This state-of-the-art complex will include a highly anticipated professional baseball stadium. Spanning 190 acres, the Ontario Sports Empire will feature top-notch athletic facilities and, upon its expected opening in fall 2026, aims to become a premier destination for major regional and national tournaments. Central to this complex is the City-led construction of a professional baseball stadium, set to be completed in spring 2026. Jim Arnold, Partner and National Director of Business Development for The Sports Facilities Companies remarked, "We're excited to work alongside city leaders and industry experts to create a venue that will elevate Ontario's profile on the sports tourism map and serve the community for years to come." The City is seeking potential partners for various retail opportunities. Interested retailers may contact our team directly at https://lnkd.in/gnKZvt4W. Kudos to Wendy Nowak, AICP, Jesse Jones, and the rest of the project team for helping the City of LA reach this important milestone!
THE RESULTS ARE IN | LA residents provided the Recreation and Parks Department with some interesting insights about the future of the Pony Rides site. PlaceWorks led discussions, with the invaluable help of Richard Bernard and the team from FM3 (who facilitated a well-thought out, statistically valid opinion poll for the project), and the City now has some interesting ideas to consider in addition to a Pony Ride as they are contemplating the future uses at the "Gateway to Griffith." Jesse Jones also lent her parks expertise to the conversation, highlighting real world examples of the various options and what it might take to implement something similar in Griffith Park. This was an especially interesting conversation to have with several of the different interest groups in the City to better understand their perspectives to help the City come up with an informed solution. One thing is certain: LA residents care deeply about Griffith Park and value the natural escape it provides from day to day urban living. #LosAngeles #RecreationandParks #RAP #GriffithPark #PonyRides #outreach #publicengagement #parks #parkplanning #publicoutreach #survey #placeworks #planning #cityoflosangeles #future #equity #access #affordablility #fun #reuse https://lnkd.in/gDJYpnx7

PlaceWorks staff recently attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Del Mar Heights Elementary School. The rebuilding of Del Mar Heights faced many legal challenges, but PlaceWorks’ CEQA document was upheld twice in court. We were thrilled to be onsite for the opening of the school! #TeamPlaceWorks #CEQA

For our Bay Area annual Staff Fun Day, the PlaceWorks team convened in beautiful Golden Gate Park for a jam-packed day of drumming, scavenger hunting, and park exploration. Amidst all of the activities, we had the chance to hang out and enjoy food and drinks from a local favorite. Staff Fun Day is a longstanding PlaceWorks tradition, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s itinerary. #TeamPlaceWorks #stafffunday #drumcircle #howberkeleycanyoube

Proud to be part of this award-winning project team! 🌟
🎉 Congratulations to The City of Santa Ana, as well as PlaceWorks, IBI Group, and Fuscoe for their work in creating the Santa Ana General Plan Update! The APA Orange Section has awarded them the Award of Excellence - Comprehensive Plan (Large Jurisdiction) in recognition of their efforts. With its first comprehensive update since 1982, the City adopted its new General Plan and certified an EIR in 2022 based on a community-driven Vision and the Core Values of health, equity, sustainability, culture, and education. The update process took place in five phases, with City staff leading and executing nearly all aspects of multi-lingual outreach, visioning, policy development, and land use planning. The General Plan contains an intro and 12 elements addressing required topics and optional topics focused on the community, economic prosperity, historic preservation, and urban design. Of note are the City’s plans for a truly complete range of mobility options, balancing preservation of existing neighborhoods alongside focused areas of growth for over 36,000 new housing units, and a commitment to health, equity, and environmental justice. Additionally, the General Plan document was streamlined for improved access, either as a graphically-rich hard copy or in a user-friendly web-based format. Please join us in celebrating their achievements here and at the OC-APA Awards Night on Thursday October 24, 2024! More information on registration coming soon. 🎊
