April is Child Abuse Prevention month and as a local nonprofit whose mission it is to reduce childhood trauma we want to see pinwheels all across the Jersey Shore!! Pinwheels are the national symbol for child abuse prevention because they represent the joy that we want all children to have. Just got off a meeting with the Monmouth County Family Justice Center Program Coordinator. We discussed how critical it is to have a program such as ours as many women who are domestic violence survivors have a need for childcare for their court appointments. Some even lose their restraining orders because they can't attend their court date due to childcare issues. This is why we are here. This is why we as a community need to step up. This #flashbackfriday we are resharing a blog post I wrote about #harrypotter and #aces since in case you didn't know this past Monday was Harry Potter's birthday. This story always spoke to me as it is about a mother's love and to always remember that you can be the one caring adult that makes a difference in a child's life. It also reminds us how the early years are so important. All topics we discuss frequently at Pinwheel Place.
