Thank you, Philanthropy New York, Carolyn Peters, and Jelena Kostadinovic, for inviting Christina Eadie and me to speak about philanthropy. We were able to share our experiences entering the field, our paths within the field (including challenges), and tips on skills and competencies that are helpful for those interested in making the transition. Many people have the misconception that we sit around and cut checks all day. It was nice to share a bit more about what it looks like for us. The differences between Christina's experience and mine highlighted the importance of networking, sharing our experiences, and being transparent. #philanthropy #jobsearch #pny

Last week The Loveland Foundation -- and our very own Donita Volkwijn who serves on the board -- rang the closing bell at Nasdaq in recognition of the critical work they do to provide mental health resources to Black women, girls, and non-binary people!
We’re grateful to ring yesterday’s closing bell at Nasdaq for The Loveland Foundation ! This moment represents our unwavering commitment to the mental health and healing of Black women, girls, and non-binary folks. As we launch the Love, Us Campaign during BIPOC Mental Health Month, we’re asking 1 million supporters to contribute just $5 each. Together, we can raise $5 million for therapy services in 2025, creating a lasting impact on our community’s well-being. Thank you for your support in this journey of collective healing and empowerment. Join us. Stand with us. Heal with us. Love, us. 💌 Photo Credit: Nasdaq, Inc./ Vanja Savic Video Credit: Nasdaq, Inc. https://lnkd.in/ghRdtesa

📖 Dianne Morales, Founder & President of StillRising, sheds light on the distinctive hurdles faced by nonprofit leaders of color in her recent piece for Philanthropy New York. 🌈 She acknowledges #philanthropy's " heightened recognition of, investment in, and emphasis on, providing support" for initiatives that network, strengthen, resource, and develop #BIPOC leaders. But there's also an opportunity to #AMPLIFY those gains for greater transformation & sustainability. 👉 Read what she's proposing here: Beyond the Glass Cliff: Redefining Leadership in the Non-Profit Sector📚: https://lnkd.in/e6XaeJfP
