Congratulations to Mary McLeod Bethune School for opening Trust for Public Land's 14th Schoolyard in Philadelphia! Today, Trust for Public Land (TPL), students, and staff of Mary McLeod Bethune School celebrated the opening of the new Community Schoolyard. The Philadelphia Water Department is proud to have provided nearly $1,150,000 towards the green stormwater components of this schoolyard project led by the TPL. Almost 50 School Districts of Philadelphia schoolyards have formally engaged with us to implement green stormwater infrastructure. Today, we honored two local institutions, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union headquarters and Awbury Arboretum Association, as the 2024 Stormwater Pioneers. This annual award honors non-residential properties demonstrating innovation and excellence in improving the environment and reducing stormwater runoff. The celebration at Awbury today included a walking tour of the arboretum’s pond and watercourse, which provides management of stormwater runoff. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e7M2BJ_Q
