About us
The WHARTELS programme is based on continuous research focused on the neuropsychology of teaching and learning maths in partnership with the North-West University and Loughborough University in the UK. The maths WHARTELS allows for individualised programmes for each learner. The programme allows the facilitators to compile an accelerated programme for the gifted learner and remedial programmes for learners with barriers to learning. International research collaborations have focused on adapting the WHARTELS content for specific cultural contexts. The WHARTELS training is accredited by the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) for psychologists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, and at the SACE (South African Council for Educators) for teachers.

On 25 April it was World Intellectual Property Day, where the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC), the Department of Science and Innovation through the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO), the Technology Innovation Agency, the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), and the North-West University (NWU) are coming together to celebrate and promote the importance of intellectual property Potchefstroom, North West Province under the theme “IP and Sustainable Development Goals: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity.” Dr Petro Erasmus was joined by our Maths Whartel to celebrate the importance of intellectual property!
