I feel like this flew under the radar last week, and yet is actually a pretty big deal. Kroger is leaning into the power of its own brands strategy with the launch of a private brand produce offer. This move aligns with the desire of consumers to support local businesses and brands. A recent study by PDG Insights revealed that 77% of US consumers consider it extremely or somewhat important to shop local when purchasing fruits and vegetables. Notably, for consumers, produce is the most important category to buy local. This trend is significant and aligns with consumer preferences.
