The Payne Fellow Orientation has concluded! Day 3 was inspiring with the "Payne Family Circle" session on the lifestyle of a Foreign Service Officer. Huge thanks to alumni Sandra Adounvo (2021), Lea Claye (2015), Berhan Hagos (2015), and Afshan Kharal (2021) for sharing their experiences with the new class. On Day 4, the 2024 Payne Fellows visited a USAID office, where they were welcomed by USAID Human Capital and Talent Management representatives Aaron Michael Stern, Ph.D., and Sara Mangiaracina. Fellows also had valuable one-on-one time with Backstop Officers, gaining insights into what to expect in their respective backstops. #PayneFellowship2024 #USAID #ForeignService #HowardUniversity #PayneFellowship

Day Two of the 2024 Payne Fellowship Orientation was just as impactful as Day One! Our fellows were introduced to USAID's HCTM (Human Capital Management), where EFM Program Manager Hope Williams shared important details about EFM (Eligible Family Members). The day also featured engaging intra-group discussions, allowing fellows to learn more about each other's passions for service. #PayneFellowship2024 #USAID #PayneFellows #HowardUniversity

Day One of the Payne Fellowship 2024 Orientation was unforgettable! Yesterday, our fellows met in person for the first time and were warmly welcomed to Howard University by Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Anthony K. Wutoh and Director of Diplomatic Fellowships Lilly Lopez. They got a glimpse of what the next two years as a Payne Fellow will be like with insightful sessions, including an overview of U.S. Federalism by Akram Elias, President of Capitol and Communication Group, and a celebration of the life of the late Congressman Donald Payne Jr—the day ended on a high note with a fireside chat featuring USAID Administrator Samantha Power. Stay tuned for more exciting updates from this year's Orientation! #PayneFellowship2024 #HowardUniversity #USAID #DiplomaticFellowships #USAID #PayneFellows
