Parity's Katie Shaffstall and Lindsey McKone saw a gap in the sports memorabilia world — no marketplace was dedicated solely to professional women's sports memorabilia. 👟✍️ Determined to serve this underrepresented fan base, they launched the Parity Locker in 2023, the first marketplace to focus exclusively on gear from female athletes. From Toni Breidinger’s race-worn visor to Olympic and Paralympic gear that can’t be found anywhere else, Parity Locker is creating a new space where fans can connect with their favorite women athletes through one-of-a-kind collectibles. Katie and Lindsey knew that women’s sports fans deserved a place to celebrate the game’s history in the same way men's sports fans do. The Parity Locker is not just about memorabilia— it’s about putting money directly into athletes’ pockets and fostering deeper connections between athletes and their fans. 🤝👥 In this blog by Skyler Samuelson Espinoza, you'll discover how the Parity Locker is elevating women’s sports and filling the gap in the memorabilia market! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/egxGwDke #WomensSportsMemorabilia #ParityLocker #ParityNow #FanTrends #SportsBiz #SportsTrends #AthleteMarketing

Speaking! Public, motivational, keynote, what have you. How do you grow in it? I’ve gotten to talk to quite a few classrooms, field day groups, middle school auditoriums (perhaps the most nervous I’ve been in front of an audience, most notably my own alma mater), and other volunteer-basis, education-related opportunities. As an Olympic javelin thrower in Olympic City USA, these things came to me pretty frequently, without much lift on my end, and were fun to hone my skills, comfort level, messaging, and energy output. I love catering my message to my audience, adapting delivery methods depending on how restless a group of kids is, and walking the walk when a field day opportunity presents itself: Putting kids (elementary all the way through college kids actually!) through my ab routine and being able to give a speech all the way through it while they struggle is one of my favorite tricks in that specific scenario! But I wanted to level up. It’s scary to ask for what you’re worth when the prevailing message growing up as a woman athlete is, “Just be grateful that you can play,” and “It’s your responsibility to be a role model,” rather than, “You deserve to be compensated for your time, expertise, thoughtfulness, and, maybe, charm.” Thanks to Parity, I’ve had incredible opportunities in the last two years to hone my speaking skills in many new scenarios to me: Corporate settings that I had only just started to occupy as a working professional, that I then got to stand in front of and translate my athletic experience for with fresh eyes and an even more open heart than I’d brought down the javelin runway for so many years. Time is the other lens that I get to view my own javelin journey through: Sometimes I worry that not adding more athletic stories to my resume now that I’m retired will dull the impact of the ways I talk about the past. As I get further away from them though, I understand them better, and can describe how those victories came about in more detail, from all angles, and with even more passion for my audiences. In all my time working with Parity, and as a member of Team Parity now, I love to tell people that I’m not weird or special: There are MANY women just like me, who have navigated the roller coasters of their own athletic careers with constant self-reflection, a wealth of intrinsic motivation, and little incentive to keep going beyond love of the game and curiosity about their own potential. These women, from every sport and background you can think of, are ready to deliver messages of inspiration, perseverance, celebrating daily victories, phoenix-rising mentalities, and so much more to any audience. Get ahold of Parity today to hear them at your next event! #TeamParity #ad thank you PARITY | A Group 1001 Company !

Another Sports Business Journal Game Changers conference draws to a close. It was an absolute honor (and a blast) to be included on this year's list of honorees. Thank you Abe Madkour, Betty Gomes, Eileen Silvergleid, and all at SBJ for everything you do to celebrate women in the sports industry! I met so many cool and remarkable women over the last two days and felt a strong sense of community among everyone who attended. We learned a lot from one another (shout-out to Amy Patterson who educated me on the scale of operations at the Kentucky Derby and the gender dynamics in horse racing) and from the speakers (my favorite being super agent Nicole Lynn with her confession that her first elevator pitch was "terrible" and her mantra that 'excellence is your greatest currency"). Thank you also to my colleagues Mandy Anderson and Madison (Kiser) Huggins for joining me and supporting me the last couple of days! #SBJGC #womenssports #sportsbiz

For years, Morghan King’s identity was intricately tied to her achievements as a weightlifter. 🏋️♀️ From relentless training to the intense pressures of international competition, her life revolved around the demands of sport at the highest level. But when the time came to step away, it was like jumping off a cliff into the unknown. In this blog, Morghan reflects on her transition out of competitive sports, the emotional toll of leaving what she knew behind, and how she found new passions in coaching, mentorship, and somatic psychology. ❤️🔥🧠👩🎓 Morghan’s story is one of reinvention. Despite the sense of loss she initially felt, she embraced the skills she had developed as an athlete and applied them to a new path. Today, she dedicates herself to supporting fellow athletes through their own career pivots, advocating for mental health, athlete equity, and the importance of life beyond the platform. 🤲 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gguuWpSY #ParityAthletePOV #WomenInSports #WomensSports
