Know your farmer, know your food! 🥕👩🌾🌾 As fourth-generation farmers, we are passionate about connecting people everywhere with the source of their food! Without farmers, there would be no food! According to a recent Harris Poll, fewer than 2 in 5 people surveyed (39%) have ever visited a dairy farm and fewer than 1 in 6 (15%) say they personally know a dairy farmer! Crazy huh?! 🤯 Supporting local farmers means supporting good food, stronger communities, and a healthier planet. Share this with your friends so they can know a farmer, too! 🌍

Highlights? 1) In his speech "The role of organic in fair & healthy food systems" Ronald van Marlen NaNa Bio BV showcased the need for sustainable, resilient, & organic food systems, from an environmental and social standpoint, and highlighted the importance of being part of a bigger organic movement & involving youth. 2) During parallel sessions, participants.. ...Learned how social media can amplify voices of young organic farmers, expanding perception of organic & showcasing possibilities of rural living – thanks to Marina Grölz Naturland e.V. and Boglárka Bozsogi Agroecology Europe Association ...Were shown examples of Open Innovation approaches - thanks Giusy Miuli and Ivana Cavoski CIHEAM Bari ...Took part in a leadership workshop by Lennart Bertels (Junges Bioland e.V.) and Cristina Laurenti (Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL) in which existing Organic/Agroecological Youth Networks were given the floor to understand key lessons learnt and understand avenues forward for a cross-sectoral EU organic youth network ...Learned about Italian Local Food Policies Network and were involved in an interactive exercise to imagine the future local food systems with Giampiero Mazzocchi (CREA) and Francesca Volpe (CIHEAM Bari) ...Gained a comprehensive understanding of Living Labs as dynamic environments fostering innovation their role in rural & urban settings – thanks to Dolinda Cavallo ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs) ...Learned about complexities of public food procurement through a dynamic & interactive role-play game – thanks to Sabina Nicolella Fondazione Ecosistemi & Jean-Marc Louvin ICLEI Europe ...Discussed decent working conditions and systemic changes to achieve them & protect farm workers' dignity, w/Ernesto Gibba (La Bolina farm) & Angelo Cleopazzo (Diritti a Sud). 3) Panel session "Growing green: Insights from organic entrepreneurs", feat Giovanni Battista Girolomoni Gino Girolomoni Cooperativa Agricola, Johan Frostrup Debio, Josefine van Marlen (NaNa Bio BV) & Stephanie Painter Painterland Sisters LLC, shared their experiences on growing an organic business. 5) Finally, Dr. Vandana Shiva keynote speech "From Earth Democracy over Rights to Nature: the role of the organic movement in ecological activism" highlighted people's power to create a resilient food movement & the need to empower youth to engage in the organic movement. Sessions are over, but the Youth Event continues tomorrow with two excursions to the organic pasta factory Andriani S.p.A. and organic olive oil mill Azienda Agricola Biologica Cuonzo, organised in the framework of #BeingOrganicInEU.
