As Volunteer Recognition Month draws to an end, we celebrate our dedicated consultants who go above and beyond to strengthen the nonprofit sector. We are privileged to spotlight one such consultant, Susan Leonard, who has worked with ESC for over a decade. Her journey is defined not only by her remarkable expertise but also by her unwavering commitment to philanthropy and community service.   With ESC, Susan dedicates her time to supporting our nonprofit clients throughout Southern California and across several mission areas. 🤝 This #NationalVolunteerMonth, we'd like to recognize and celebrate a few of the wonderful nonprofits focused on volunteerism in the social-impact sector. Each organization is dedicated to encouraging people to make a positive difference in their communities by getting involved and making an impact. 💙 Reading Partners Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. Their volunteers provide hour-long tutoring sessions to students— following a structured, evidence-based curriculum developed with an expert team of curriculum advisors. 💙 Village Learning Place The mission of the Village Learning Place is to promote literacy, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning through access for all ages to information, resources, and educational programs. They promote a learning-oriented culture that is friendly, welcoming, and supportive of the success and well-being of every person. 💙 Bergen Volunteers Bergen Volunteers' mission is to provide human service and training programs to improve lives and strengthen communities. Their programs cover an array of needs, including youth empowerment, senior care, family support, and professional development. Behind each of these programs is a team of passionate volunteers who generously contribute their time and skills, maximizing organizational impact. 💙 Aspect Foundation Aspect Foundation was founded in 1985 as a small nonprofit organization offering affordable study-abroad opportunities to students from around the world. They continue their mission today by providing a variety of outstanding educational and cultural exchange programs both in the United States and countries abroad. Students and host families alike have the opportunity to make lasting connections and meaningfully experience new cultures, traditions, and points of view. 💙 OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center This nonprofit's mission is to provide the community with grief support services, education, resources, and hope. Congratulations to all the winners of the #CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge! Winning first place with a $100,000 donation is OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center for their winning film, “Mi Ofrenda,” made by filmmakers Nicola Gayle, Melba Martinez, Emily Parker, Grayson A., Eddie Y., Erick Grajeda, Kavon Britt-Tiegs and Christopher Ikonomou.   Now in its third year, the CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge empowers early-career storytellers to step into #leadership positions for a good cause by creating short films in #collaboration with hyper local nonprofit organizations. The Anthem Award-winning initiative provides its participants with #education, #mentorship, resources, a $5,000 budget, and real-life paid leadership experience. By focusing on aspiring talent early in their career, the CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge cultivates #creative leaders who tell stories and lead collaborative teams in a human-centered way. This program was created by Vice President of Casting at CBS Entertainment, Lori Erickson.   Second and third places went to Boyle Heights Beat for the film, “The Whistle,” and TreePeople for their film, “Rooted.” Both were awarded $50,000 donations. The The Actors' Gang Prison Project and Central American Resource Center - Los Angeles (CARECEN-LA) each took home $25,000 donations for their films, “Freedom” and “Ochoch,” which won fourth and fifth places, respectively.
