Interesting article published recently in the #independentUK: Boeing is losing over $1 billion per month due to production delays (link in the first comment). About 200 mostly finished planes are sitting idle outside factories, on airfields, and even in employee parking lots. The delays are primarily due to part shortages, including interior components, engines, seats, and temperature-regulating parts. What are the impacts of delays? -> Boeing has delivered about 90 fewer planes this year compared to the same period last year. -> These issues come amid Boeing's already damaged reputation due to recent safety concerns and federal investigations. -> The situation is raising questions about when Boeing will be able to deliver these planes and improve its financial position. Otonomi is actively monitoring the global tech outage affecting various industries and services, like air cargo, as slots for dedicated airfreight flights are disrupted and many international goods and packages are transported in the cargo holds of passenger aircraft. Here's a summary: ❓ Cause: The outages were primarily caused by a flawed update from CrowdStrike, an American cybersecurity company. 💻 Affected systems: CrowdStrike Falcon, a cybersecurity product, was the main source of issues. Microsoft's Azure cloud service also experienced a separate outage in the United States. 🕢 Duration: The problems persisted into the U.S. morning, even after CrowdStrike sent out a fix, as some systems required manual updates. 🎆 Scope of impact: The outages affected a wide range of industries and services globally, including: -> Airlines and airports (causing delays, cancellations, and check-in issues) -> Banks -> Retailers -> Information displays -> Login systems -> Cargo handling -> Broadcasting networks We are currently monitoring delays and potential claims with our air cargo clients and partners like FlightAware. #AirCargo #Delay #Insurance Graphic via NBC News
