A month has quickly passed already with my Presidio Scholars Interns and they truly are my favorite part of my role as Program Director - but also the most important job that I have in my current career. We need a growing, strong pipeline of young adults that need opportunities to get into the real estate industry. We need people from our communities, from our neighborhoods to have a seat at the table, to build our neighborhoods, to have a voice in public policy. We cannot do that if we do not prioritize equity. So far this summer, we’ve been able to partner with industry leaders and firms, like Patrick Otellini at Swinerton, BCCI Construction , Verdical Group , Justin A. Zucker , Marisa LaVallee, Saksham Tikekar at Arcsine , OTJ Architects , Banke A. at Prologis , City and County of San Francisco Planning Department, and Wilson Meany to expose my students to the different pathways in commercial real estate, and to assist them in developing their end of year competition pitches. Excitingly, we have upcoming tours with CBRE at Salesforce , Chase Center, and Springline Menlo Park in the next few weeks. Another impactful highlight of this summer was the Aspire & Build: Real Estate Summer Kick-Off Networking Event, hosted by myself and DeQuese May, to foster accessibility and workforce development opportunities within our community. This event was so successful and much needed for seasoned industry professionals to connect with future leaders that we plan to host more networking gatherings soon. If you’re interested in becoming more involved with the Presidio Bay Foundation and/or would like to learn more, drop a line in the comments or reach out to me at [email protected]. Finally, I want to give a really big thank you to my summer scholars. They are such an amazing class and I'm happy I get to work with them for the next few weeks.
