In December, the Adena Power team built and delivered one of its module demonstrations to The Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research for testing. This was one of our largest builds to date. Read more about how this came together (link below), and next week, we'll talk about the results (spoiler - everything ran very well). Adena has an amazing team of engineers and scientists. Without them, none of this would be possible. Amazing work by Amanda Gibson, Katarina Greathouse, Katherine Lemley, Matt Holbrook, and our intern, Seth Lawhon. Ohio is a fantastic state to launch an energy storage company, given its rich history of manufacturing infrastructure and the innovation mindset present. We're lucky to have friends like Nexceris, The Ohio State University, Current Chemicals, BRITE Energy Innovators, Energy Safety Response Group, and many others in Ohio who supported us throughout 2023. Not only does Ohio have a lot of growing cleantech startups and companies, but we also have great apparel companies like HOMAGE, whose "Built In Ohio" t-shirts the team is wearing. Goodbye Michigan, off to Ohio and Illinois! 🔋🚗⚡We kicked off the third day of our German EV & Charging Infrastructure in Columbus, Ohio at The Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research. Our valued partners, JobsOhio, represented by Justin Kocher, and One Columbus, represented by Deborah Scherer, CGBP, gave us a warm welcome and talked about great economic development efforts for the State and region, and also gave an overview of the EV & Charging Infrastructure landscape in Ohio. The presentation was continued by DriveOhio, represented by Andrew Bremer and Santos Ramos, EIT, who talked about the leading role Ohio plays in this rising sector and how Ohio thrives to position its people for the electric future. This is all done in conjunction with the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, which gives funding to States to build an integrated network and strategically place EV charging infrastructure to improve data access, dependability, and collecting. Emily J. Smith from American Electric Power talked about how AEP works with customers and communities to support charging infrastructure and to make electric cars attractive to drive and charging easy to access. From here, the director of the Center for Automotive Research, Professor Giorgio Rizzoni gave us a great and super insightful tour of the facility, showing us battery labs and the student project room where great minds work on genius projects to compete with other universities from all over the world. Your passion for the university and the students was infectious. The university is lucky to have you. At Rev1 Ventures, a venture development organization, we met Robert Lane from Acculon Energy, an advanced battery design, engineering, prototyping, and testing firm, leading the charge in industrial and commercial OEM electrification, who showed us a state-of-the-art battery testing lab. After a long drive from Columbus to Bloomington-Normal, IL, we arrived tired but excited about our last stop of the day. At the DESTIHL® Brewery and Beer Hall, the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council waited for us with a wonderful dinner, and delicious cocktails, and hosted an amazing evening reception in a beautiful setting with external partners from the region. Thank you very much, Patrick Hoban, CEcD, EDFP, Nora Harrison, and all the other people involved who came, for hosting us, making us feel special, and inviting great partners to network with our German delegates.
