    We are proud to highlight Levi Fredrikson, Applicant Experience Specialist for Oregon Tilth, who was featured in an Organic Produce Network article last month discussing the USDA National Organic Program (Agricultural Marketing Service) new organic regulations – Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE). We are equally excited to welcome Wendy Johnson, Director of Safety and Corporate Compliance at Nelson-Jameson, Inc., to Tilth Nation! This position is open to applicants residing in the following states: MI, OH, KY, TN, MS, LA, AR, AL, GA, FL, SC, NC, VA, DE, WV, MD, PA, NJ, DC, NY, MA, NH, RI, CT, VT, ME. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise to develop and deliver high-quality training resources tailored to a diverse audience, including clients, agricultural service providers, farmers, and partners.     Earlier today, Secretary Tom Vilsack announced new funding from the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to serve organic. This collaboration will establish six Organic Assistance Specialist positions with Oregon Tilth, Marbleseed, California Certified Organic Farmers Foundation (CCOF), and OATS Organic Agronomy Training Service Agronomy Training Service (OATS).   The organic experts will develop regional networks and support NRCS staff to provide services to USDA customers. These services include hosting hands-on organic training and fielding organic-related questions. NRCS will expand their existing organic expertise through relationships within the organic community. Through this collaboration, the agency will increase conservation assistance to organic producers and those transitioning to organic production in the United States and the Pacific Islands and Caribbean areas.   Oregon Tilth will serve as the lead for the NRCS Organic Assistance Specialist Program and will work closely with CCOF, OATS, and Marbleseed to increase NRCS staff knowledge of organic regulations and production, and promote NRCS assistance to organic and transitioning producers.     “Through our long-standing, national partnership with NRCS, Oregon Tilth has seen the natural alignment between organic practices and NRCS conservation goals. Oregon Tilth is excited to see this expanded capacity to support organic and transitioning producers. We are looking forward to working closely with NRCS and our partners to provide more technical and financial assistance to organic producers.” - Chris Schreiner, Executive Director, Oregon Tilth.

    Introducing Kipori Woods – Organic Week 2024   Introducing Oregon Tilth’s first Ambassador, Kipori Woods! Kipori is a rising honors sophomore studying Business Administration focusing on Entrepreneurship at Paul Quinn College, a Dallas, Texas-based Historically Black College.   “My dream in life is to enrich my community and build generational wealth. One step towards this life goal has been working for Oregon Tilth,” said Kipori. “Through the newly founded Paul Quinn and Oregon Tilth corporate partnership, I became the first student ambassador for this program. I decided to embark on this partnership because of what they are doing for the organic community. I work at Oregon Tilth because I want to be a part of change. This connects to me because I understand the importance of food.”   Last year, Oregon Tilth announced a partnership with Paul Quinn College (PQC) to become a member of the school’s celebrated Urban Work College Program. This collaboration melds Oregon Tilth’s commitment to #sustainable #agriculture with Paul Quinn’s dedication to providing students with real-world work experience, aiming to build future servant leaders in the organic agriculture industry.   We’re thrilled to attend the Organic Trade Association's Organic Week session, Expanding the Benefits of #Organic into the Next Generation.     Elizabeth Tigan, Oregon Tilth’s Fiber and Textiles Specialist and Chair of the Organic Trade Association's Fiber Council, is hosting the Organic Fiber Discussion today at Organic Week. “I am really looking forward to being together with leadership from the organic sector working together to promote growth and stability in organic markets! The Fiber community is especially excited in the GROWTH of the #organic #fiber community – we are celebrating some recent grants given to folks working in organic fibers and are encouraging our council members to support the continuation of the Organic Market Development Grant funding with the new Farm Bill.
