Over the last year, the U.S. Joint Industry Committee has taken monumental and critical steps to create more transparency and rigor for media buyers and sellers around the transactional readiness of emerging cross-platform solutions and new currencies. These efforts go hand-in-hand with the longstanding audit and accreditation efforts led by the Media Rating Council, complementing – not competing – by offering a new way to evaluate real data and certify specifically for transaction. Women have fundamentally changed our advertising ecosystem, bringing diverse ideas and innovations that are transforming the way advertising is bought and sold, all while paving the path towards a more inclusive and supportive industry for fellow and future women leaders. This International Women’s Day, we are especially proud to recognize the work done by one of own Amy Selwood McGovern alongside partners and friends Cara Lewis, Katie Klein, Roseann Montenes and Megan Shutts who have demonstrated incomparable bravery in the face of adversity and shown what it truly means for women to support women. Last week the inaugural Media Ladies Conquering Cancer fundraiser garnered over $70k. Proceeds from donations go to launching MLCC's peer-to-peer support program for women diagnosed with breast cancer in the media industry, closed member gatherings for women to share their stories and post operative and treatment care packages. The founding fab five have rapidly expanded their community of breast cancer thrivers and survivors to 65 women in the media industry ensuring that no newly diagnosed female executive will face this disease on her own. This shows the collective power of what happens when women (and our industry at large) come together to empower and support the breast cancer fighters and survivors in our industry.
