We had a lot of fun spotlighting Geroy Simon the other day, so we figured we’ll do it again! Today we honor Lendell Jones, who is 2nd all-time in Maryland history with 14 career interceptions. But his best day by far came on October 23, 1982 when he had a school record 4 interceptions in a blowout win over Duke. He was also a part of the 1983 ACC Championship squad. Helluva player. Helluva career!

Horrific news for the University of Maryland Football family. Isaiah Hazel died in a tragic car crash overnight, along with Khyree Jackson & AJ Lytton, Jr. All 3 young men helped lead Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School to three undefeated seasons from 2015-17. Hazel was a 4-star recruit when Mike Locksley took over at Maryland. Such a sad day for so many in the tight-nit football community in the DMV. Please keep their families in your thoughts! #OneMaryland

What an incredible opportunity for #Terps fans. Come join us at the inaugural Men’s Basketball Summer Showcase at the amazing Under Armour headquarters. You’ll get your first look at Juju Reese and Derik Queen back on the floor together since they were teammates at Saint Frances Academy in high school. Plus, you’ll join the Maryland coaching staff at The Bygone for dinner. All of the money raised goes directly to supporting the basketball NIL. Get your tickets now!

What an incredible look at what makes Matthew Swope such a dynamic coach and unbelievable leader! Clearly the #Terps are all in on Motor Preferences Experts, LLC to help each player utilize their unique hitting style. Plus this dude bleeds Maryland red! Always has, always will. #DirtyTerps for life.

Today we celebrate peace, unity and freedom! In a country full of divisiveness, what could possibly be more important? What a beautiful quote from Michelle Obama. Today is about progress... and hope! “What I love about Juneteenth is that even in that extended wait, we still find something to celebrate. Even though the story has never been tidy, and Black folks have had to march and fight for every inch of our freedom, our story is nonetheless one of progress.” – Michelle Obama
Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19th to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. It marks our country's second Independence Day. We at the Collective, and on behalf of all University of Maryland student-athletes, wish everyone a proud, happy and safe Juneteenth. "The people of Texas are informed that in accordance with a Proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and hired laborer." General Gordon Granger, June 19th 1865 in Galveston, Texas (from www.juneteenth.com)
