Pan-European youth movement involved to spread European active citizenship

About us

Empower. Inform. Unite: One Hour for Europe's Quest Welcome to a movement that bridges the gap between people and the European Union, igniting informed conversations and fostering active citizenship. At "One Hour for Europe," we're on a mission to transform ignorance into understanding, combatting unfounded skepticism through knowledge. Our Vision: Empowerment Through Information Our goal is simple: to empower citizens with accurate information about the European Union, enabling them to make informed decisions and shaping a future built on understanding. We believe that every individual has the right to be correctly informed and updated, a shield against manipulation. Taking Action, One Hour at a Time We invite the vibrant youth of each city to join us in their main squares. Together, we engage in diverse activities aimed at enhancing public knowledge of topics that directly involve the European Union. Our vision is to ensure that every passerby who stops at our square walks away better informed, ready to contribute to informed dialogue. Guiding Volunteers to Impact At "One Hour for Europe," we're not just an idea; we're a support system. Our online 'call for action' is the starting point. We provide volunteers with clear guidelines, organizational insights, and unwavering support. Essential reading materials are made available through Europe Direct Information Centres (EDICs), with more resources downloadable from official EU websites. A Grassroots Approach Flexibility defines us. With a chosen topic and informed volunteers, a local team member communicates event details to the police – date, square, and time. Each team tailors their event to their city's spirit, with or without an information stand. We emphasize collaboration with local associations, making the experience meaningful and impactful. Together, We Transform Ignorance into Unity Join us on our transformative journey, where knowledge transforms ignorance into unity.

📸 Y7 Summit Day 3 Highlights part 1! On day 3 we had the pleasure to host the Y7 multi-stakeholder session with the participation of Italian associations who are making an impact in various fields: from environmental sustainability to equal opportunities! To kick off the session, our Y7 track Chairs outlined the themes that have been discussed in each track. Then, each association had few minutes to share their vision and policy proposals. They then joined the Y7 negotiations to contribute with their valuable insights! It’s been wonderful to welcome Young Women Network; Visionary; University for SDGs; Change For Planet; Orizzonti Politici; Global Shapers Rome Hub and One Hour for Europe.

My super power is writing and apparently, also speaking.

What a weekend! I was honored to be a guest speaker at the Local EYE at the University of Bologna, Campus of Forlì (Italy) on two topics: 1. The External Action of the European Union: tackling the crisis in the Sahel During this panel, I shared my thoughts on the role of leadership in driving unity, averting conflicts, fostering development and nation-building. There is an undeniable link between (transformational and servant) leadership and peace (ensuing from good governance, delivering through robust systems & institutions which are also established through decisive leadership). “When the country is in chaos, everybody has a plan to fix it— But it takes a leader of real understanding to straighten things out.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭2‬ ‭MSG‬‬ Even the Bible says so! 😄 2. The Future of EU - AU Green Trade: Challenges and Opportunities for the AfCFTA On this panel I gave Namibia as a case study for win-win development cooperation and provided recommendations for how the AfCFTA can be instrumental in strengthening EU-AU trade relations while safeguarding the interests of both parties. I equally mentioned that Africa will be disproportionately affected by climate change so it is prudent that we review the protocols to ensure that they reflect an alacrity to include measures to give ourselves more than a fighting chance. And again, to implement effectively operationalize across the board = leadership on the part of African Heads of State (AU). Local EYEs are initiative that is supported by the European Parliament which bring the unique experience of the EYE (European Youth Event) to the cities and regions of Europe, offering young people from across the EU continent the opportunity to meet other young people, inspire each other and exchange ideas with experts and decision makers. I applaud the One Hour for Europe and AfCFTA Youth Advisory Council for a job well done in organizing and facilitating these discussions- they are necessary! And lastly yet most importantly, I thank God for the opportunity to labour in love and contribute, in whatever way, to dialogue that translates into action. The EYE was organized ahead of the EU Elections with the aim to provide recommendation to the Parliament. #Academia #PublicService #DoWhatYouLove #LoveWhatYouDo #AU #AfCFTA #Leadership #PuntoEuropa #OneHourForEurope #EUElections24

Despite concerted local and international stabilisation efforts, the Sahel region is grappling with escalating insecurity. ● How can the voices and perspectives of young people be amplified in shaping the EU's external actions to address the crisis in the Sahel region of Africa? ● How can integration, inclusion, and stability be promoted while ensuring that young people's voices and aspirations are central to the policymaking process? ● How can networking and exchange opportunities be fostered among young people within and outside the Sahel region? These are some of the questions that were debated and answered on May 18th as part of the Panel “The External Action of the European Union: Tackling the Crisis in the Sahel” at the European Youth Event in Forlì. This event brought together international experts, practitioners, and scholars from the field, such as H.E. Prof. Emanuela Claudia Del Re Del Re - EU Special Representative for the Sahel (EUSR Sahel), Esther Shakela - Office of the President, Republic of Namibia and @Hahamadou Almoctar Hassane - Niger Danish Refugee Council, among many others. This event has been a precious opportunity to deepen my understanding of the dynamics of transformation in the Sahel Region and the African continent. By involving youth and policymakers in the discussion, the session sought to identify practical steps and policies to promote integration, inclusion and stability, focusing on engaging local entities. As a result, through enlightening debates, I have gained valuable insights into the differing perspectives on political instability in the Sahel region and its impact on youth. I’m deeply grateful to Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna and One Hour for Europe for this great educational opportunity. I am confident in its contribution to my academic and professional growth. #EuExternalAction #SahelRegion #YouthEmpowerment #EyeForlì

Last Saturday, at #Europa Experience - David Sassoli in Rome, marked a significant milestone for Orizzonti Politici as we hosted our first event focused on the impactful role of social media on youth electoral behaviour, a timely discussion in the lead-up to the next #European #Elections. This conference was the culmination of an intensive research project aimed at enhancing youth participation in European elections through innovative social media strategies. After engaging with over 300 European citizens aged 18-26 years, we have decided that it was time to finally discuss the topic with those working in communication, in education and in youth associations. In this regard, a heartfelt thanks goes to Giacomo Baiocchi, digital leader of the European Commission in Italy, Grazia Iadarola, president of Scuola di Politiche (SdP) and Adriano Bertone, president of Generazione T. Together, we delved into the essential role of education in fostering a robust voting culture, the challenges posed by social media, strategies to break out of our echo chambers, and the crucial need for the younger generation to amplify their voices. Personally, moderating a conference with such esteemed guests has been both a privilege and a rich reward after months of hard work. Leading a research project, coordinating with teams across other European member states, and collaborating with leading associations has been incredibly stimulating and affirmed my commitment to continue this work in the future. In this regard, I would like to thank European Parliament, Roma Capitale and Consiglio Nazionale dei Giovani for having believed in and supported this project. Also, a shout-out to the other associations involved, namely our partner association Politicesstudenternas Riksorganisation (PolRiks), for connecting us with the Swedish youth, and One Hour for Europe , Fondazione Antonio Megalizzi and Giovani delle Acli - Associazioni cristiane lavoratori italiani for their contributions to the policy proposals. And of course, thanks to Orizzonti Politici once again and to Mattia Ubaldi for leading the conference with me. #YouthVote #SocialMediaImpact #EuropeanElections #PoliticalEngagement #DigitalDemocracy
