It’s a banner day: introducing Leitmotif, an independent venture capital firm bridging the innovation ecosystems of the US and Europe. The One Design Company team worked closely with co-founders and Managing Partners Matt Trevithick and Jens Wiese to launch the brand, crafting a strikingly sophisticated identity program. From the core visual system through a website and a suite of communication tools, we helped the Leitmotif team announce their vision to the world on their one-year anniversary. With no time to spare, the Leitmotif portfolio already highlights a growing list of innovators within their orbit (including our friends at Sora Fuel, a SAF innovator we partnered with on branding a few months ago). Hat’s off to the entire Leitmotif team, as they set out to build a better world by empowering extraordinary startups to accelerate the transition from technical proof to commercial scale. From an idea in a lab to global design acclaim: One Design Company’s work for Montai Therapeutics has received a 365 award from AIGA Design. Selected from entries spanning 26 countries, our work for the Flagship Pioneering-founded therapeutics innovator is 1 of 54 projects to be awarded the honor. Montai Therapeutics (previously Montai Health) is a biotech with a mission to “unlock the power of nature with digital technologies to treat and preempt chronic disease.” Our modular identity system borrows from the visual language of chemical bond diagrams, symbolizing the infinite chemical possibilities afforded by their platform. As a studio lead, it was important for him to connect his team with the broader #designcommunity. As an adult, I served on the local AIGA Chicago board for close to a decade in roles from Education Chair to Co-President. It means to world to me to have the work of One Design honored in this year’s competition by an organization that has had a constant presence in my life. Not only am I proud of the work, I’m over the moon that work for a #biotech company is receiving this recognition. Montai is focused on radically improving the health of millions of people around the world—not with a delightful consumer product or a powerful cultural experience, but through radical scientific #innovation. It’s an honor for me and all of my colleagues at One to be able to work with clients pouring their hearts and souls into this type of work, and it’s incredible to have it recognized by design industry peers and luminaries. – Thank you #AIGADesign! How does one build a future of abundance and resilience? Give DCVC’s 2024 Deep Tech Opportunities Report a read for some insight and perspective. For the second year in a row—in close collaboration with the DCVC team—One Design Company led the design effort to bring this volume to life. 106 beautifully printed (and die-cut) pages dive deep into topics ranging from robotics and quantum computing to TechBio, TechMed, drug discovery, farming, and beyond.
