Old Colony YMCA is a charitable, non-profit Association committed to the development of strong spirit, mind, and body, guided by Judeo-Christian principles, to enrich the quality of life for everyone in our communities. We believe that our mission is to assist all people to develop to their fullest potential and to respond to ever-changing community needs with a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are a regional provider of human services and health and wellness programming for children, families, adults, and seniors from many diverse communities. At OCY, we view traditional YMCA services – like fitness, swimming, child care, and camp – through an alternate lens; beyond their explicit benefits to the health and wellness of our members and participants, they are also an opportunity for deeper engagement. Last year the Y served more than 141,000 people throughout Southeastern Massachusetts at branches in Brockton, East Bridgewater, Easton, Plymouth, Middleboro, Stoughton, and Taunton. While most Ys have a focus on positive youth development, Old Colony Y is unique in our commitment to serve the most “at risk” members of our community, ensuring that everyone has access to OCY services if they should need them. We are committed to strengthening our capacity to respond to changing communities and ensure that everyone (including persons of diverse culture, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic level, and skill) have access and are welcomed and fully engaged. OCY is governed by a 62 member Board who are active, with committees that provide oversight to all aspects of our operations including a Fiscal Committee, a Program Committee which reviews program and quality compliance, as well as tracking progress on strategic planning goals. We are purposefully working toward ensuring that our board and staff are reflective of the communities we serve. As a diverse organization of people joined together by a shared commitment to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grown and thrive, we strive to provide employment and volunteer opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds. We offer a vast menu of services and community programs, including: • Seven full-facility branches (Brockton – Central/Youth, Easton, East Bridgewater, Middleboro, Plymouth, Stoughton, and Taunton) • A multi-site child care branch (Community Based Child Care) operating 48 sites daily • Five summer camps (Camp Clark, Camp Satucket, Camp Yomechas, YMCA Camp in Stoughton, and Camp Massasoit) • A branch serving families experiencing homelessness (Family Services) • A branch focused on chronic disease and well-being initiatives (Healthy Living) • Residential/non-residential branch programs for adolescents (Social Services)

104 staff. 1,020 years of service. Countless lives changed for the better. Yesterday we hosted our Annual Employee Service Awards, recognizing staff for their relentless dedication to our mission and community. Awards ranged from a large group of 5 year veterans to individual 30 and 35 year honorees. We were also privileged to present the Legacy Award to "the myth, the legend" Sandy Bromberg! Please join us in congratulating all our recipients, and leave a shoutout in the comments if you see someone you know!

Old Colony Y has recently lost a dear friend in Don Quinn, who passed away earlier this month. Don Quinn joined the Board of Directors in 2009, and then joined the Board’s Executive Committee in 2012 as a Member at Large, a role he held for the last twelve years. His contributions to the Board in particular were significant, as he possessed a wealth of information and experience relating to the legal system and property acquisition matters. Don would never shy away from asking the difficult questions, and prompted many crucial discussions as a result. Don always brought a smile, shared a good story, and contributed thoughtfully to all conversations. We will miss Don’s presence, his impact, and his kindness among us. Don’s legacy will continue to inspire us, and his memory will remain in our hearts.

Photovoice is all about uplifting youth voice! We do that by looking at the community through their eyes and photos. The photos are then displayed in an art gallery for the community to enjoy!

I am heading into week five as a Behavioral Specialist at Old Colony YMCA in East Bridgewater! Camp Satucket is a ten week day camp for children ages 4 to 14, and I am loving my role of the Camp Support Specialist. As one of three support staff members, I coordinate efforts with the Camp Clinician, counselors, nurse, and other leadership staff to implement strategies to help campers with a diverse array of abilities and social and emotional needs to positively engage in camp. Including teaching the camp counselors about behavior patterns, and actively monitor the social and emotional well-being of the campers.

Camp Yomechas in Middleboro is in full swing, offering a fantastic array of activities and experiences this summer! A special shoutout to our incredible staff for creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. “This year is one of the best years that we have with our specialties,” said Sophia Gaucher, a camp unit head at Camp Yomechas. During staff orientation last week at Camp Clark, our future summer role models had the opportunity to hear from many guest speakers. Wayne Bloom, Camp Clark alumni, shared the footprint that summer camp left on his life, how that had a direct impact on him paying it forward in later years, and encouraged us to “leave awesomeness behind” this summer. THANK YOU Wayne, for inspiring us and continuing to leave your legacy at Camp Clark!✨ Commonwealth Financial Network | Wayne Bloom
