🏆 The I-405 Improvement Project Receives Several Industry Awards! 🏆 We are proud to announce that the I-405 Improvement Project has been honored with several prestigious awards. It recently won the California Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America Award and the Golden Hub of Innovation Award from the Association of California Cities of Orange County. Last month, the American Society of Civil Engineers – Orange County chapter – honored OCTA and Caltrans with a Project of the Year Award for improving commutes on I-405. These accolades celebrate the extraordinary impact and excellence of the signature I-405 Improvement Project. These awards are in addition to several other recognitions from engineering and transportation associations. Congratulations to the entire I-405 project team, including our partners and clients, Orange County Transportation Authority and Caltrans, on these well-deserved awards. #OHLAUSA served as the lead and managing partner of OC 405 Partners responsible for performing the contract to design and construct the I-405 Improvement Project. Key elements of the project, which stretches from Costa Mesa to the Los Angeles County line, include a total of 18 bridges that were demolished and reconstructed, many with new sidewalks and added bike lanes. The project team also added ramps, upgraded drainage, and relocated utilities, in addition to constructing and installing hundreds of retaining and soundproof walls. Yesterday, #OHLAUSA’s wonderful team of summer interns in our Southeast Civil Region took a site tour of our rehabilitation project at Opa Locka Executive Airport in Miami-Dade County, FL. Led by our site team, the tour consisted of a project overview and Q&A session along with a visit to several areas onsite where work is underway. Our industry’s future engineers and builders received extensive knowledge about the important work on this two-phased project that will rehabilitate a runway and reconstruct its multiple taxiways at the airport, which accommodates a variety of private, pleasure, and business flights. OHLA USA has already completed the demolition of the runway ends and main taxiways while executing their full reconstruction, which will include full-depth pavement and overlay asphalt placement. The project team is also responsible for overseeing the installation of electrical systems, and new obstruction and approach lighting systems, as well as the placement of landscaping and signage.   Our hard-working and talented site team is comprised of Operations Manager, Kristian Navarro; Project Manager, Inigo Uraga; Project Engineer, Ivanna Castro; Superintendents, Victor Parisi, William Tarafa, and Manuel Font; and Safety Manager, Steven Mayberry. #airportconstruction #airportinfrastructure #interns #construction #engineering #wheelsup #fullthrottle #weareOHLA #webuildexcellence

#OHLAUSA’s Alondra Park Multi-Benefit Stormwater Capture project in Lawndale, CA Site work including clearing, grading, excavation, and foundation work, in addition to support of excavation activities, is underway at this unique project that our team is executing for LA County. The purpose of the contract is to remove potential contaminants from stormwater runoff. OHLA USA will also revitalize the existing park – located above the capture reservoir – with new soccer and multi-purpose turf fields, in addition to two rehabilitated baseball fields. The major scopes of work include extensive support of excavation to remove 265,000 cubic yards of soil, placement of precast concrete for the underground storage chambers, installation of stormwater pipes, valves, and pretreatment filtration equipment, and the construction of diversion, junction, and manhole structures. While construction takes place 30 feet beneath the park, the team will upgrade recreational spaces and ball fields and plant native and drought-tolerant vegetation and trees, bioswales, and permeable pavements. #sustainableconstruction #weareOHLA #webuildexcellence #waterinfrastructure #weloveourparks
