Ohio's public libraries are feeding minds and bodies this summer! Special thanks to the Children's Hunger Alliance for helping our libraries provide free meals to local kids.

Summer is here, but time off from school doesn’t mean a time out from reading. Ohio's public libraries are ready to help with plenty of entertaining and thought-provoking books and activities to keep kids reading and learning all summer long. https://lnkd.in/gXqSR6tk

Great news! The Ohio Senate wants to invest more than $4 million into public library projects around the state. We're grateful to the Senate for recognizing the urgent facilities needs of aging library buildings. This investment will help our libraries as we start summer reading and our busiest time of the year! https://lnkd.in/gYkfYYPm

Free summer lunches will be available at more than 120 libraries across the state, including several Columbus Metropolitan Library locations. We know that for many kids right now, this is the only meal they can count on and we're glad to help. Thanks Children's Hunger Alliance for this partnership.

Library storytimes use research-based practices — talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing — to develop language and pre-reading skills in children. Yes, it was a great day at the Statehouse! Ohio's public libraries are extremely popular and have the highest use per capita in the nation. Our success is dependent on the strong partnership between the state and local library systems. Our members are an integral part of our grassroots advocacy efforts. More than 200 library administrators and trustees met in Columbus this week for our annual Legislative Day. Library supporters spent #OhioLibraryDay with us at the Sheraton on Capitol Square listening to legislative briefings and special presentations by Steve Dackin, Director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, Sen. Louis Blessing (R-Cincinnati) and Rep. Dan Troy (D-Willowick). Thank you to everyone who participated!
