About us

About Zeta Phi Beta Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded January 16, 1920, at Howard University, Washington, D.C. by five coeds who envisioned a sorority which would directly affect positive change, chart a course of action for the 1920s and beyond, raise consciousness of their people, encourage the highest standards of scholastic achievement, and foster a greater sense of unity among its members. These women believed that sorority elitism and socializing overshadowed the real mission for progressive organizations and failed to address fully the societal mores, ills, prejudices, and poverty affecting humanity in general and the black community in particular. Since its inception, Zeta has continued its steady climb into the national spotlight with programs designed to demonstrate concern for the human condition both nationally and internationally. The organization has been innovative in that it has chronicled a number of firsts. It was the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its operations in a national headquarters, first to charter a chapter in Africa, first to form auxiliary groups, and first to be constitutionally bound to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. The sorority takes pride in its continued participation in transforming communities through volunteer services from members and its auxiliaries. Zeta Phi Beta has chartered hundreds of chapters worldwide and has a membership of 100,000 . Zeta‘s national and local programs include the endowment of its National Educational Foundation community outreach services and support of multiple affiliate organizations. Zeta chapters and auxiliaries have given un-totaled hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities, and promote legislation for social and civic change.

  • As a proud partner of the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, it is the season for all Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated chapters and auxiliary groups to come together to raise awareness in service and donations toward finding a cure for breast cancer. Nearly 300,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. One in eight women in America will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetimes. We have made enormous progress in our decades-long fight against cancer, but we know that to help those facing breast cancer, awareness alone isn’t enough. And for black and brown communities, where medical resources and research has been greatly disproportioned for quite some time, are a population not adequately represented in the current healthcare industry. Medical research hasn’t always seen us. Join the movement and visit https://lnkd.in/g4EDWNb7 to find your local team to help us meet our goal! And don’t forget to tag us in all of your photos! We love to see our #FinerWomen upholding the principles of #Sisterhood and #Service. #zphib #zetaphibeta #zphib1920 #MoreThanBCAM #breastcancerawarenessmonth

  • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. stands united every year to remind the nation of the countless individuals — victims and survivors, their children and families, their friends and communities — impacted by domestic violence. Imagine a future where domestic violence is promptly identified and properly addressed, especially in health care settings, with processes tailored to each individual’s unique situation. There is power in the #PurpleRibbon 💜 Our advocacy extends far beyond the month of October. We will not stop until society has zero tolerance for domestic violence and all victims and survivors are heard and supported. #zphib #zetaphibeta #zphib1920 #ZetasForDVAwareness

  • In this critical election year, it is imperative that we work together to safeguard voters’ rights and fair access to the polls. With that in mind, we are excited to invite you to an important and timely training session hosted by the National Panhellenic Council of Presidents and NAACP Legal Defense Fund, where we will explore the ways you can volunteer your time, talent, and resources to voters’ rights and election protection efforts leading up to, on, and after election day. During this session, LDF will also shed light on the voter intimidation trends and tactics we saw in the 2020 and 2022 election cycles and the tactics voters may encounter in this upcoming election. Training attendees will be able to take this vital knowledge back to their communities, chapters, family, and friends and will have a clear path forward on how they can activate and mobilize in the voters’ rights and election protection space. We welcome anyone passionate about protecting the integrity of our electoral process. Your participation can make a direct impact on preserving our constitutional right to vote. Training Details: Date: September 25, 2024 Time: 8:00pm ET Registration: https://lnkd.in/eC2zGSBW

  • BET AND THE NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL JOIN FORCES TO MOBILIZE BLACK VOTERS FOR THE 2024 ELECTION Leaders of the Divine Nine powerfully share their collective voices New York, NY, September 19, 2024 – BET and The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC) are proud to announce the launch of the new BET ‘WE VOTE’ Public Service Announcement (PSA) featuring all nine Black fraternities and sororities. These PSAs leverage the influence of the NPHC, affectionately known as “The Divine Nine,” to drive awareness, encourage voter participation, and reinforce the importance of every vote in shaping our future. “The Council of Presidents is committed to supporting this important initiative with BET,” said Hon. Chris V. Rey, J.D., International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated and Chair of the NPHC Council of Presidents. “The vote is the most powerful tool in democracy, and we look forward to using our collective voices to help drive strong voter engagement and turnout.” “BET is proud to highlight the Divine Nine and collaborate to ensure voters get the critical information they need about the election, including exercising our right to vote. We, like the Divine Nine, are committed to elevating the well-being of our community. Voting is one such mechanism in which to do so”, said Kimberly Paige, CMO and Co-Lead of the BET Social Impact efforts. BET created the ‘We VOTE’ efforts to exclaim that we Vote for Ourselves, for Togetherness, for Everyone. • Today, we celebrate and uplift the brown and gold with the men of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated on their 61st Anniversary! Continuing a legacy of greatness since 1963, this fortitude of men has been constructed to demand the rights for our people by any means necessary, and advocate for social and economical change among the neglected. Iota was an expression of the times, where maturity, community and being civically engaged was heightened for Albert Hicks, Lonnie Spruill, Jr., Charles Briscoe, Frank Coakley, John Slade, Barron Willis, Webster Lewis, Charles Brown, Louis Hudnell, Charles Gregory, Elias Dorsey, Jr., and Michael Williams. At Morgan State, they found common ground for not being spectators, but men of movement - having established what we know as Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated. #iotaphitheta
