IG Shapiro appeared before the House members of the Joint Committee on Cannabis Policy today to discuss his reasons for recommending a receiver to manage the CCC until the Legislature can amend the enabling statute. “As I have said publicly and repeatedly, this is not about specific individuals. It is about a statute that is inconsistent because it assigns the same authority to two positions – the Chair and the Executive Director,” Shapiro said. “Thus, without any change to the statute, I believe, the next leaders may not have any greater success.” The IG expressed his thanks to the House Chair Daniel Donahue and the members of the committee for holding the hearing. https://lnkd.in/eiMBeMdF

“The Cannabis Control Commission is a rudderless agency without a clear indication of who is responsible for running its day-to-day operations...This is no way to operate a state agency, let alone one that was responsible for bringing in approximately $322 million in tax and non-tax revenue in Fiscal Year 2023." https://lnkd.in/e9gCnptf

It was a beautiful day to be at the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly to meet with Massachusetts Association of Public Purchasing Officials. These are the people who make government work.
