DOE and Argonne National Laboratory are winding up for the flagship CyberForce Competition® taking place on November 9, drawing teams of U.S. college and university students to participate in integrated, real-world operational technology cybersecurity challenges. This year, the students will defend a wind energy company against cyber attacks. To complete their mission, teams will need to prevent and mitigate attacks and system failures to keep wind power up and running. At the Liberty Eclipse 2024 Full Scale Exercise, DOE CESER hosted utilities and other industry stakeholders for an annual operations-based exercise from September 23-27. The event leveraged a unique cyber-physical testbed requiring participants to identify, respond, and remediate real time cyber attacks from a simulated adversary. The exercise creates space for industry-government collaboration and enhances the preparedness and resiliency of the people who keep our infrastructure protected from cyber attacks. https://lnkd.in/euSavsSj

As Los Angeles prepares for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, planners know that a secure, reliable energy system is critical to hosting a successful event. Recently, CESER Director Puesh Kumar and DOE’s Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Bartol attended a Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games Preparation Workshop, sponsored and conducted by CESER. Bringing together the energy industry, federal, state, and local partners, this workshop initiates a multi-year engagement with energy companies in the southern California region with the goal to prepare and support their planning for a safe and energy resilient 2028 Olympics and Paralympics and 2026 World Cup games.
