About us
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department is a large, multi-faceted law enforcement agency composed of approximately 4,000 staff members and over 800 reserve personnel. The department consists of five organizational functions divided into 20 divisions. The core services provided by the department are: Public Protection, including patrol of land, harbors and coastline, homeland security, court and airport security, and emergency communications; Jail Operations; Technical Services including investigations, coroner services, forensics, emergency management and centralized Countywide communications systems; and Administrative and Support Services. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department is known for its professionalism, highly trained personnel, and cost effectiveness. In addition to patrolling the unincorporated areas of Orange County, 12 cities in Orange County contract with the department to serve as those cities' police departments. The department provides security services for many agencies in Orange County including the Orange County Superior Court, John Wayne Airport, Orange County Transportation Authority, Social Services Agency, and Health Care Agency. The department is proud to report that, when polled, 97% of our clients, the residents living in areas that we patrol, feel safe in their homes and communities. In addition, the areas patrolled by the department are statistically the safest in the State when compared to areas of similar population and delivery of service.

Today we hosted the ribbon cutting for the OC Sheriff’s Technology Center! This new building will bring three divisions under one roof for enhanced operational efficiency and effectiveness. The 120,000-square-foot facility will be home to the department’s Technology Division, Operations Support and Intelligence Division, and components of the Special Operations Division. The Technology Center can address a variety of incidents by combining real-time crime analysis with public safety resources, such as emergency communications, federal partnerships, and technology.

From the first step to the final handoff to Laguna Beach Police Department, we ran with purpose and passion in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. We are proud to be part of a movement that champions acceptance and inclusion for Special Olympics Southern California. This year, we had over 40 members from our department volunteer to run, and 13 of those volunteers ran all 14 miles. Here's a little more about why they run. Our Airport Police Services personnel and their K-9 partners paid a special visit to Wagon Wheel Elementary School, to meet the teachers and students and talk more about what they do. We shared insights into our deputies' roles and the invaluable contributions of our K-9 companions. It was great meeting everyone! 🐾

Today, our R&D team and Six Points For Kids crew rocked it at Home Aid OC's Diaper Drive! We built a sheriff's star frame, starring Duke Jr., filled to the brim with diapers and baby essentials. Not only is this one of our favorite projects, but we love knowing these essential items are helping local families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Meet our Position Control Supervisor Juana Fierro! Juana is responsible for tracking all employee movement and ensuring we have vacant positions for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
