Is your September calendar rapidly filling up? Save the date for the next OceanICU webinar - coming to a computer screen near you this autumn. The OceanICU project is designing new Decision Support Tools (DSTs)—modelling tools—to allow us to predict the impact of natural processes and industry actions and of which will aid scientists, industry and policy makers, in exploring the complex tradeoffs involved in determining the optimal resource exploitation strategy. In consultation with stakeholders, the models, scenarios and user experience of these DSTs will be developed over the course of the project to ensure they evolve into effective tools to aid policy makers involved in determining the right decisions around how to deliver the EU Green Deal. The webinar will showcase the current progress of the tools and models and demonstrate how they work on the game-changing #EDITO platform, a digital framework that integrates data and services from EMODnet and Copernicus Marine Service. A dynamic Q&A will offer the opportunity to directly engage with our panelists, experts leading new innovative pathways toward providing crucial data needed in support of the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030" Register here: https://lnkd.in/eZwx4XX9 EDITO - European Digital Twin Ocean NORCE Norwegian Research Centre Jorn Bruggeman Conor Delaney Marina T. 🌊 AMEMR (Advances in Marine Ecosystem Modelling Research) fosters interdisciplinary discussions among stakeholders aiming to advance marine ecosystem models of all types. This week - July 8th to 11th in Plymouth - the AMEMR Conference is drawing scientists from around the world, including several OceanICU colleagues who will be either presenting specific project work and or sharing their own work relevant to the OceanICU story. If you are attending, don't miss: Fiona Culhane (Marine Institute) talk on: Co-producing knowledge with ocean industry stakeholders to understand the impact of activities on ocean carbon. (Tuesday at 10:15) Paula Silvar (Marine Institute) talk on: Potential continental shelf carbon sequestration by a harvested fish species. (Wednesday at 14:45) See full program here: https://lnkd.in/ekFA_ArC Marine Institute Horizon Europe #MissionOcean #EUGreenDeal #Digital #DATA #Modelling #Climate #EcosystemModels #Environment #ocean #carbon

OceanICU project enthusiastically welcomes the launch of the European Digital Twin of the Ocean platform and is pleased to announce that the first demonstrator of our highly anticipated OceanICU Decision Support Tool is now running on EDITO as seen in our brief demo! Users can pick any location around the world to run a suite of OceanICU models, and explore how they respond to pressures. This demonstrator integrates state-of-the-art biogeochemical models and datasets that are being developed and refined within OceanICU. In consultation with stakeholders, the models, scenarios and user experience of the DSTs will be developed further over the course of the project as new data and updated models are generated. The game-changing Digital Twin Ocean enables easy and efficient “what-if” scenarios for forecasting to help us better manage our ocean and environment enabling a terabyte of data to be processed in a few seconds.
