🌟 Meet Stefan Harper, our dedicated Development Manager at Ocean Technologies Group! 🌟 We recently caught up with Stefan to hear more about his unique journey into the maritime industry, his role at OTG, and what drives him to make a difference every day. What initially sparked your interest in the maritime industry, and what motivates you to stay engaged? “I spent years working in conventional tech—programmatic advertising, security—yet something always felt missing. When I came across my first role in maritime, I saw the chance to use my skills to help people stay safe in their work environments, which was truly fulfilling. The fact that it’s maritime is just the icing on the cake. I’m grateful to be part of such a dynamic field, connecting with diverse people and skill sets from around the world. And now, when people ask what I do, I love seeing their reaction: 'That's very niche!'" Tell us about your role and your goals as a Development Manager at OTG. “I lead the Shared Services team, where we develop foundational software services for the Ocean Platform that other development teams use. My role is all about ensuring my team has what they need—from project management and technical resources to creating a positive, supportive work environment. My goal is to help them deliver high-quality services while feeling empowered and engaged." What accomplishment are you most proud of since joining OTG? “I’ve taken on three different roles since joining OTG, each vastly different, so there isn’t just one accomplishment I could single out. But migrating Videotel’s infrastructure in 2021 was a big achievement for me—now it largely runs itself! I’m also proud of stepping into the Development Manager role, which was a big change from hands-on tech work. Above all, I’m incredibly proud of my team and the passion they bring to delivering quality software." What advice would you give to others looking to advance their careers? “Be patient and take pride in your work—not just for the sake of climbing the ladder, but for your own fulfillment. Your achievements will be recognized when the time is right. And above all, be kind and respectful. A good attitude not only reflects on you professionally but can also make someone’s day." How do you unwind outside of work? “My hobbies (okay, obsessions) are playing the guitar and music production. Occasionally, I try something new like 3D modeling, but it never sticks! I also love taking long walks with my dog, Kobe, and my partner, who’s also called Steph." Thank you, Stefan, for sharing your journey and passion with us. Your dedication and leadership continue to make OTG a great place to work. We’re excited to see all you’ll accomplish! #OTGTeam #EmployeeSpotlight #MaritimeIndustry #CareerJourney #LifeAtOTG
