Following today's Novo Nordisk hearing with Congress, the OAC is encouraged to see promising steps toward lowering the cost of vital medications like #Wegovy and #Ozempic, which can greatly improve health for millions of Americans. Major Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) are signaling a commitment to lowering prices and improving patient access. As OAC's CEO, Joe Nadglowski, stated, “We appreciate the innovation Novo Nordisk has brought to people living with obesity and Mr. Jorgensen's desire to have access for all patients to these life-changing medicines. One thing he could do right now is to bring Wegovy into the patient assistance program that he mentioned in the hearing. At present, people who need this drug for obesity cannot participate.” The OAC remains dedicated to fighting for affordability and access to care, but we can't do it without you. Let’s keep the momentum going!! ✏️ Sign the OAC's petition to make obesity treatments accessible and affordable: https://bit.ly/3ztOHuS 💸 See our statement on drug pricing: https://bit.ly/4dgVLbZ #ObesityCare #AffordableHealthcare #HealthEquity

Read our Statement after today’s Senate HELP Hearing: Obesity is a chronic complex disease impacting more than 42 percent of American adults nationwide. We need to meet this health care crisis head-on with evidence-based treatments and interventions. The Obesity Care Advocacy Network (OCAN) welcomes discussions that increase awareness of barriers to care. The robust debate around obesity medications reflects the importance of this issue and the critical need for access to treatment for those living with this disease. OCAN looks forward to continuing to work with members of Congress and the Administration to advance access to the full continuum of obesity care.
