  • Did you know that Oconomowoc High School students have the option to sign up for the Dual Enrollment Academy at Waukesha County Technical College? 🎓 Our students explore programs such as Automation, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education Preschool, Firefighter/EMT, IT Systems and Welding/Fabrication. In WCTC’s Dual Enrollment Academy, this program helps ease the transition from high school to post-secondary education, giving insight into college academics and lets students explore high-demand fields. After successfully completing the program, students earn a WCTC certificate or diploma along with high school credits. 👏📜Congratulations Raccoons!! #OconPride #OconDriven

  • The fishing class at OASD Summer School was a catch! 🐠🐟💦 Mr. Bretl and Mr. Fredrich had a great time teaching students all about different types of live baits and artificial baits, how to tie knots and different fishing techniques. One of classes even had a suprise guest, Dr. Mike Sereno, OASD Superintendent! He took a turn with a fishing pole but we don't think he's mastered his fishing technique yet... 😬😂 All classes also took a field trip to Dick Smith's Live Bait & Tackle for more instruction and hands-on experience with different bait. Congratulations students on reeling in some great catches! #OconPride #OconDriven

  • Are you heading to the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair this year? Make sure to come and play OHS 2024 Graduate, Mason Paar's own coded educational game, which will be featured at the Compeer Financial Discovery Barnyard! Mason developed a game on Wisconsin's honey production titled “Buzzopolis.” His game originally premiered at the Calling All Coders Museum Walk on May 16 and we're so #OconProud that people from all over will now get to experience it at the State Fair. Great job Mason! #OconPride #OconDriven #Oconomowoc #StateFair #OconAlumni

  • In May, OHS Senior Abby M., a Youth Apprenticeship student for Faith Technologies, presented on a student panel at the ACTE National Work-based Learning Conference. Over 1,000 attendees from all over the country came to learn about the benefits of work-based learning programs such as Youth Apprenticeship. We are so #OconProud of Abby for being a part of this panel and are also so proud to offer so many YA opportunities for our Raccoons while they are still in school! #OconPride #OconDriven #Oconomowoc

  • Our Staff Spotlight this week shines a light on Karen Heggie, 5K Teacher at Park Lawn Elementary! 🌟 "I have the privilege of teaching some of our youngest learners in the OASD. Starting 5 year olds on their journey through education is what makes me #OconDriven. My hope is that every student who enters my classroom feels my passion for teaching and in turn develops a love of learning that will last them a lifetime. The students, families, and staff that I work alongside inspire me to continue to learn and grow as an educator. When people ask me what I do, I am proud to say I am a kindergarten teacher at Park Lawn Elementary School." Thank you Karen for all that you do for the OASD! You are truly appreciated. #OconPride

  • Our Staff Spotlight this week shines a light on Eric Darnell, 5th Grade Teacher at Nature Hill Intermediate! 🌟 "I am #OconDriven in my support of all students. As a 5th grade teacher at Nature Hill Intermediate I believe that all should be held to high expectations in all aspects of school and life. All kids are unique individuals with different interests, learning styles and talents. My goal is to create a community of learners and leaders based on mutual respect for all individual differences. Whether it’s with extra math strategies, showing their creativity during Open Mic Friday’s or simply lending an ear to listen, my focus is what each student needs to reach their academic and social emotional goals. Over my years of teaching at the OASD I have advised Robotics, Fantasy Football Club, Stock Market Club and I continue to be the Tech Director for NHI Musicals and Coach Boys Golf for OHS. Growing up in Oconomowoc and attending OHS makes me want to make this the best learning community around. I love working with kids and seeing them become the best individuals they can be." Thank you Eric for all that you do for the OASD! You are truly appreciated. #OconPride
