  • On Monday Product Management Club at NYU had the wonderful opportunity to host an enlightening product management speaker panel in partnership with the NYU chapter of GDSC and NYU Women in Computing 🚀 We had the privilege of welcoming product managers Afrina M, Sophia Amara Anigbo, and Rachel Teller from Google and Demetria Mack from Microsoft to hear about their experiences in the dynamic field of product management! Through their colorful storytelling and engaging conversations, our speakers highlighted various aspects of their PM journey: ✅ There is a clear difference between an execution role (project/program management) and a strategic role (product management) ✅ Standing your ground as a PM and knowing your worth is crucial in overcoming imposter syndrome ✅ Your presence as an underrepresented group helps hold the company accountable A massive thank you to Afrina, Amara, Rachel, and Demetria for their insightful contributions to the tech community at NYU, as well as to GDSC and WinC for helping make this event possible. Here's to more enriching collaborations in the future! 🌟 #Google #Microsoft #ProductManagement #Collaboration #Empowerment

  • Last week, Product Management Club at NYU explored the versatile intersection between hardware and software product management with Alisha Saiyed from acre security at our virtual Business to Business Hardware Workshop ⚙️ Notable Points: 🔁 Hardware Development Life Cycle: Understanding critical timeline phases and decision making is crucial in the journey of conception to market-ready hardware 📑 Anatomy of a PRD: Alisha provided invaluable insights into what a Product Requirements Document looks like in the context of hardware, breaking down specific hardware requirements and how they drive the development process 🚪Innovative Example: Alisha connected her imaginary idea—digital room numbers for meeting schedules—to concepts like the development cycle and PRD that PMs use in their day-to-day life. A great starting point for PM enthusiasts to practice their product skills! A heartfelt thank you to Alisha for sharing her knowledge through a dynamic workshop and showing us that innovation knows no bounds! #ProductManagement #Hardware #Software #Innovation

  • We had the pleasure of hosting an insightful workshop on Product Requirements Documents (PRD) led by Jamila Morrison, VP of Product at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Jamila shared her expertise in crafting effective PRDs that align design, development, and engineering teams around the core goals and functionalities of new products and features 📑 Key Takeaways from the Workshop:  💡 Purpose-Driven PRDs: A PRD defines the 'what' and the 'why' behind a product, setting the stage for project directions and stakeholder alignment 👥 User-Centered Design: Focus on user experience! Jamila emphasized the importance of integrating user stories and epics to ensure that the final product truly meets customer needs 🔑 Essential Project Tools: Tools like Atlassian Jira and Confluence are crucial for effectively tracking and managing product development processes Big appreciation to Jamila Morrison for the engaging presentation! The hands-on format allowed us to engage deeply with practical learning and direct interaction with the material 👏 #ProductManagement #ProductRequirementsDocuments
