    This year's NYCxDESIGN Festival emphasized inclusivity, showcasing diverse disciplines including architecture and landscape architecture, interior, industrial, graphic, and urban design, while highlighting technology's impact on these fields. The festival kicked off with an immersive Opening Night Reception at Mercer Labs Museum of Art and Technology, featuring interactive exhibitions for over 400 guests. Connecting and amplifying the design culture in New York City, NYCxDESIGN reported a broader international presence at the Festival with 6 countries creating numerous dedicated events in honor of the Festival, in addition to the 35 countries represented among ICFF’s 450 exhibitors. For the first time, Estonia, Switzerland, and Finland were involved, joining the return and expansion of Italy, France, and Argentina in a vibrant showcase of the world’s premier creative talent.    Richard E. Pelzer II, Founder of HarlemCXL and member of the NYCxDESIGN Steering Committee shared, "By combining the various design disciplines, the NYCxDESIGN Festival fosters a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of different design sectors and inspires innovative approaches to problem-solving".   Special Thanks to Key 2024 Supporters NYCxDESIGN thanks its 2024 supporters that make the Festival possible, including Nyc Economic Development Corp, IBM, Samsung Electronics, Adobe, Magic Leap, SANDOW Design Group,  Bloomberg Connects, Rockefeller Brothers Fund and Material Bank®.     The 2024 edition of the internationally renowned annual NYCxDESIGN Festival set new records for local and international engagement and design excellence as theme ‘Design is All Around Us’ came to life with more than 115,000 visitors, gathered in 31 neighborhoods across all five boroughs for sold-out keynotes, stimulating exhibits, unique tours, and installations, totaling more than 280 events citywide. NYCxDESIGN hosted the inaugural NYCxDESIGN Keynote series, where notable innovators took center stage daily to share creativity, inspiration and lessons learned with the industry and guests. The daily Keynotes brought visitors together as they coalesced at world class locations including the The Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Art and Design, The National September 11 Memorial & Museum, and other prestigious theater venues for compelling discussions led by IBM, Adobe, Samsung Electronics, Magic Leap and more. NYCxDESIGN Executive Director, Ilene Shaw stated, “As the 2024 Festival showcases, our greatest strength emerges when we unite.     NYCxDESIGN is delighted to announce the 2025 NYCxDESIGN Festival will be held May 15-21 marking the global design calendar. The creative team, led by Ilene Shaw, Executive Director, has been working in the weeks since the event to confirm partnerships with ICFF (May 18-20, 2025) and other design hubs including neighborhoods, schools, museums and associations. Next year’s event will include the return of the public-facing Design Pavilion installations, Keynote series, and NYCxDESIGNxSouvenir exhibition.     Only three days left to visit the Emerging Designer Residency at Hudson Yards! NYCxDESIGN and ARTSTHREAD have teamed up again to present the 2024 iteration of the Emerging Designer Residency program in New York City. Four recent graduates in a variety of design disciplines are offered a position in a well-trafficked public commercial space to showcase their impressive projects and work in progress. Meet Arts Thread member Juliana Serna Mesa ❋. A Parsons School of Design graduate, gaining her MFA in Design & Technology. Juliana has been intrigued by transdisciplinary speculations on the future of analog and digital interactions, with a particular interest in the rise of ambient computing and calm tech. Meet Arts Thread member Alexandra Soiseth Textiles MFA graduate Rhode Island School of Design RISD. Alexandra creates textiles that aim to offer the real dimension and deep transformation of a digital screen. Meet Arts Thread member Lilach Porges, Fashion Design MA graduate FIT 2023. Her project PROCODE_DRESS is revolutionizing the fashion industry with robot-printed garments, automating the production of wearable collections for a more sustainable future. Meet Arts Thread member Erika Choe. A 2023 SVA Products of Design MFA graduate - who carefully crafts clay into beautiful handmade ceramics.     Wednesday night was an unforgettable celebration of creativity and innovation at the NYCxDESIGN Festival Opening Party at Mercer Labs. The evening was a beautiful blend of design brilliance, showcasing the best of New York’s vibrant design community. The atmosphere was electric, with every corner of the venue filled with inspiring installations and immersive experiences. From cutting-edge tech displays to stunning visual art, each exhibit was a testament to the power of design in shaping our world. Our opening event was not just a party but a true celebration of the artistic spirit that drives NYCxDESIGN. Here’s to the start of an incredible festival that promises to push the boundaries of design and inspire us all. Design is all around us.
