About us
The New York Health Foundation (NYHealth) is a private, statewide foundation that aims to improve the health of all New Yorkers, especially people of color and others who have been historically marginalized. Today, NYHealth concentrates its work in three strategic priority areas: Healthy Food, Healthy Lives; Primary Care; and Veterans’ Health. We also engage in responsive grantmaking through a Special Projects Fund. The Foundation is committed to making grants, informing health policy and practice, spreading effective programs to improve the health care system and the health of New Yorkers, serving as a convener of health leaders across the State, and providing technical assistance to its grantees and partners.

Hi New Yorkers! New York Health Foundation and Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) need help collecting patient stories from New York residents with Burness communications related to positive experiences in primary care to build out a story-bank for our advocacy efforts! We will compensate patients who provide their story up to $750. We encourage you to fill out and/or share the form ASAP so we can move forward with the work in mid-November. 📃 Share your story here: https://lnkd.in/etaGUaCk If you want to tell your story or someone in your family, please fill out with the form with your story details. If you're a provider, then you can out the form for a patient (with their permission) or pass the form along to a patient and ask them to fill out. Patient storytellers participating will engage in a series of steps, including a prep call to discuss their story, an interview to capture it, and time for reviewing drafts and providing feedback. They will also spend additional time as needed for sharing relevant photos and giving final approval before publication. To compensate storytellers for their time, we will provide an honorarium for for the initial call and for those who ultimately tell their story. Please reach out to me with any questions!

"If you've met a veteran, you've met one veteran." Veterans are a very diverse group--we come from different parts of the country, we live in rural and urban communities, we are men and women from different races, ethnicities, religious backgrounds, and sexual orientations. A best practice is to develop tailored solutions for the veterans in your community. Thanks to RAND, New York Health Foundation, and Derek Coy for identifying the unique needs of veterans and their families in New York. Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services
Eileen Greenlay, Dixon Center Director of Development, attended this week’s Veterans’ Health Conference: Understanding New York’s Newest Veterans to explore the results from the RAND Corporation’s new report on the health and well-being of New York State’s newest veterans. Based on a survey of New Yorkers who recently separated from military service, the report offers the first comprehensive look at New York veterans’ health and social service needs since RAND’s landmark needs assessment nearly 14 years ago.
